To run a company in effective manner and smoothly, it is quite essential for the firm to
follow all the legal requirements. In the same way, report is also based upon the case study of
sporting facilities such as restaurants, offers fast food facilities, bars and large number of
employees. The report provides or highlight the main legal requirement of a business and also
describe some relevant legislation as well.
MAIN BODY
Main Legal requirement of a sports business
The law related to sports is refers to the specialized practice which mainly focused on the
legal issues that are pertaining in sports industry. That is why, Australian government also made
different organization that keep monitor whether the business are compliance with laws or not
(Sports recreation law in Australia, 2018). For running a business smoothly, it is quite essential
for every business to follow all the laws and legal requirement such that a fair trading law also
ensures that the business is operates fairly and competitive and also help to protect the customers
as well. For the same way, for all the business owners in Australia, they have to register their
business and this must includes:

manner.
Health and safety law, 2011: while running a sport business, the firm should also govern
the policy of health and safety a workplace and that should be apply in workers, volunteers,
students and club members. For that, a company should also maintain risk management register
that helps to be aware, attend some problems related to hazard and the risk which are involved
during the club operations (Lansbury, 2019). Further, a duty of care is also imposed on an
organization in order to determine that all reasonable precautions are uses by the firm in order to
prevent an injury. The Health and safety law of Australia, also leads the development of a
national policy in order to improve the work of health and safety of a workers and people.

standards that helps to meet for some specific hazard and risk such as noise, machinery etc.
therefore, a business must have a license that helps to run a business and make essential reports

Employment law: In sports business, there is a need to follow employment law, which
helps to protect those who work to a contract of service and the firm should also pay the
minimum wages as per describe in the section. Further, the employment standard also set the
minimum standards of an employment such as maximum weekly hours working and annual

law. In the same way, the sport business should also be aware of all the employment law
principles, that helps to run the business in effective manner.

revenue offices as well (Olsen, 2019). That is why the business who are performing in legal way
is liable to pay tax to government and many firm also save money and pay the correct amount on
time in order to taking an advantage of any tax concessions which are they entitled to. But
among all the key tax that affect the business most is Income tax, Capital Gain tax and goods and
service tax which is collected by quarterly, annually and monthly. These are as mentioned below:
Company Tax: A company is liable to pay company tax even though it belong to
different firms, but the rate is set by the Australian government and on the other side, a non-
resident company is also taxed at the same rate. But the taxable income and the tax rate is also
vary under some circumstances or it also affected by the business structure as well. Such that for
small business, the tax rate is less than big firm and I the same way, it vary from small business
to large. For instance, for companies, the base rate is around 27.5% and the companies who are
not for profit, its income category is for those companies whose taxable income is $416 then the
rate is nil. But for the firm whose taxable income is $417 to $ 915 their rate is 55%.

This shows that the rate is also vary from the actual income and it is quite necessary to
pay the amount as well, so that it is benefit for companies as well as fro an individuals too.
Capital gain Tax: It is paid by the firm as a part of income tax and it is also applied on
capital gain through disposal of assets. This tax is applied by the firm which are carrying on the
business in Australia (Rutherford, 2019). For that reason, the business should also required to
keep the records for the future and all business including small business are also eligible for the
capital gain tax but there are some circumstances which needs to be fulfilled.
Good and service Tax: it is the national and broad consumer tax that is also used by
Australia who offer the services and goods to their customers. Such that it is also applicable for
Sports business as well and for that reason, the business should be registered with Australian
Taxation office. On the other side, there is an advantage of using the service such that business
can also gain a credit input while applying GST and on the other side, not for profit firms are
also liable for some concession as well.
Payroll tax: This tax legislation is beneficial for the members of a firm as well as
employees such that it is a state tax on the wages which a business pay to their employees.
