Deciding a career for an individual is a great task because it not only decide your
future but also helps you to build your image and when it comes to boost a career in
sports management is again not an easy task. Sports management is best for the
people who loves to work with people and enjoys their company. Once the key area of
interest is decided, one must decide to train himself/herself and then at the last
advantages and disadvantages are taken into consideration. Higher the stress, higher
will be the responsibility and at the end higher will be the salary (Bartleby, 2016).the
competition in this field provides business opportunities for athletics where professionals
work in different positions like marketing, public relation, athletic directors, sports agent
and managers as well (sports management degree,2014)
It may seem very glamorous when one chooses sports management as a career
but it’s not that easy rather they are busy in taking meeting, dealing and negotiating with
the traders (Barr, 2017). Owing promotions and growth in this industry requires number
of essential skills and efforts which include good communication skills, ability to handle
the team wisely, leadership traits, organizational skills and many more. Since this career
is a million dollar industry because career here is very prestigious and rewarding
(Sports management degree, 2017).
Let’s look at the expenses and profit in the sports management career. This
career obviously includes financial cost for getting a degree. One needs to work hard on
different sets of skills and mold themselves. There are list of schools that provide the
degree which is cost effective as well. So a budget friendly school must be chosen.
After getting a degree, the financial benefits is expected because once you prove your
image and repo to the employers, you can gain an imaginary track record where you
automatically will be connected to different industries (Taylor, 2010). When it comes to
salary, a sports professionals earns a big salary but then it also depends on the position
one is holding varied on the job title, experience and credentials. Your degree in this
career will be worth only when you are willing to put yourself in hard work and
determinations. Career in other industries like marketing, hotels and restaurants,

depend on the economic growth of the country either its boom or recession. But care er
in sports industry is hardly affected during recession or the economic growth of the
country will not create any obstacles in this profession because people love to play and
their level of interest cannot be stopped due to poor economy.
Marketing concepts
Since sports is widely loved, marketing here will definitely include selling goods
and products using sports. Sports marketing has grown with the growth in the sports
industry (shank, 2014). Marketing here can be done in several ways like marketing on
television, hoardings, radio, sports journals, magazines and many more (Doyle,2017).
Those who have strong voice and high confidence level can market themselves as an
announcer. Similarly, one can also market himself/herself by signing their name on the
sports talk on any newspaper or radio advertisement. One of the biggest advantage of
sports marketing is that it include huge number of fans and devotee who would love to
see their favorite sports, favorite team or favorite athletics (mullin, 2014). The target
market basically in this area are men rather than females because generally males are
more focused to build their career in sports if compared to females. One can also
market on social media metrics like twitter, Facebook and also can organize campaign
where one can also receive feedback from the followers and know how well the
program was conducted. One of the most common promotion one can do is by
advertising themselves on television because television is the area which is highly used
by the sports lover. If one wants to market themselves and reach the males who are
under the age of 40 then they can focus on extreme sports. Likewise, if they want to
reach males who are under 25, then they need to target on Olympics.
Thus, it can be concluded that career in sports is very lucrative and creditable. It
can also be recommended that career in sport is the best option one can opt for. One
can get rich by maintaining a good track records in the interested sports. A sports
management degree enable a person to build a strong image in the minds of other

people. Increasing fan base helps you to increase your fame in this industry and build a
