Introduction to sports and recreation management
Introduction
Most of the people have surely come across a common proverb during their academic
life. “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy” was a popular slogan that was used to
encourage students and young learners to participate in sports and physical recreation.Schools
and borings appoint a physical training teacher in order to encourage the students into sports
activity. This action is to introduce refreshment for the students in their busy academic schedule
as well as body development. This essay will lead the readers towards the importance of sports
and physical fitness in one's life and how such physical practices can help an individual to reach
his goal. I have chosen two job postings in this essay as an ideal career and part-time
respectively. This essay will through light on each of the job postings, PT teacher and swimming
instructor that would help to explore the two potential career in the sports industry.
Discussions
Important priorities in life
Since my childhood, I always had a knack towards sports and recreations. I used to long
for the days in a week that routine for games period. It was not that I looked for chances to
escape my homework or class interactionsbut I had a great fascination for sports. I was fervent
for sports activities hence wanted to choose it as my career. I had observed my classmates
craving for outdoor games while their parents persuading them to tuition classes.

Mass communication about healthy lifestyle
I believe studies are always the important priorities in life but utmost priority should
be focused on health. Physical fitness is most essential that an individual need to maintain in
order to reach other aim and ambitions in life (Wang & Wei, 2016). So what I believe is
students and adult professional should be educated enough about physical health so that they
don’t cut down any sort of physical activity from their regularity. So having flair for sports
and recreational activities and giving preference to my priorities I choose to opt for a career
in the recreation and fitness industry that will be discussed below.
Sports and fitness as a career
If salary and schooling are not the two contributing factors in deciding a career I would
choose to be
A Physical training (PT) teacher:
I have grown up watching out PT teacher monitoring students engaging in different
sports and activities. Physical training falls within the category of therapeutic recreation that
involves organizing challenging games that sets a mood of competition and enormous physical
activity. On the other hand, elderly citizens and young professionals should equally take part in
physical activities. As stated above in the priority order I prioritize physical fitness to rank first
in the list since the causes can be so many. If I talk about young children it is very important to
maintain the regularity in their metabolism and blood circulation so that they don't fall sick often
hampering their academics. Now physical training comes in many forms such as freehand
exercise, outdoor games, meditation, jogging, running and so on (Kniffin, Wansink& Shimizu,
2015) boosting their immune system. I would like to incorporate all the activities in young

children and see then developing immunity to diseases. This approach will also help them to
meet their career goal by increasing the concentration level.
A swimming instructor:
Similarly, for the elderly citizen as well as adult professionals it is important to take care
of their health. Hectic lifestyles and busy schedules limit their access to health monitoring.
Therefore, if they can manage a little time at some point of the day for themselves, they can
bring a difference. A swimming instructor handles every candidate in order to bring positive
physical changes through recreation and entertainment. Both the profession fascinates me since
there is no such pressure or obligation put on the learner. The participants are relaxed and
entertained to engage in physical activity that involves relaxation of mind and body followed by
increasing blood circulation. Deep dive and water splashes work magical serving both the
purpose of leisure fitness and therapeutic recreation.
Ideal career positions
After considering all the priorities and thoughts I have come to a decision of choosing
Physical training teacher and swimming coach as an ideal career option. I would like to work as
a Physical training teacher because
I want to generate mass awareness regarding knowledge of sound health.
Children and young students are the appropriate target audience because
they will tend to implement them what they have learned while growing up.
However, I would also encourage them to figure out the particular sports
of interest so that they can make it a better career option later onwards.

Another job that I want to do right out of my university is to become a swim coach. I
understand how stressful is life now and people can hardly for a gym or Zumba class also
those activities are quite expensive (Kniffin,K. M,Wansink& Shimizu, 2015). Therefore I
will follow my passion to choose a job overcoming peer pressure and give lessons on
swimming.
Swimming course is a cost-effective one, hence people of all ages can
afford it. I would love to be in this profession during my free time and involve the
maximum of people staying nearby.
I would feel myself to be the luckiest if I am able to eradicate diseases and
physical limitations to a certain extent through sports and recreation.
Required skills
The following Competencies and Knowledge I need to gain in order to update in a
competitive career position.
P.T. teacher
Competencies
Communicative
Knowledge of a few games such as basketball, cricket, self-defence,
badminton, etc
Student management skills
Make a learning environment
Experience/Knowledge

I would diversify my knowledge more into the sports industry and learn the basic strokes
practised by famous sports person. In addition, I would participate in inter-house matches that
will be an added advantage to my profile.
Swimming coach
Competencies
Update with achievements in swimming sports
Prepare training routines separately for every age groups
Teaching the appropriate strokes in the pool
Proper diet plan
Experience/Knowledge
Once a novice person learns the strokes, he won't forget how to swim. This is an amazing
part of these particular sports that makes me fascinate it more. However, I have experience of 5
years as a swimmer and represented state twice.
Since both kinds of job postings deal with outdoor physical activities, it involves master
strokes and tremendous practice. Therefore I can say that demonstrating the sports practice and
commitment to the particular profession through different approaches can be met through non-
class room activities (Wang & Wei, 2016). In addition to monitoring of performer’s progress
also a competency that requires off classroom creation of learning ambience through effective
communications.
Conclusion
It can be noted that any kind of sports activity involves both components such as
therapeutic recreation and physical fitness. The main purpose of the motivation is to make people

realize the benefits of physical activity in daily lives. It does not only keep diseases at large but
also it improves the psychological wellbeing of a person. Sports and fitness activities keep the
body muscle flexible increase blood circulation that helps the oxygen to reach every tissue.
There are many students who want to make a career choice apart from academics; hence
leadership approach in the sports industry can be the best option for them. Indirectly it will create
a positive impact upon the society as well. Taking sports and fitness activity seriously might
even open more career options to students who struggle with their academics. In order to
promote sports and recreation among people, the government has contributed support to run
sports courses in institutions.
