Introduction
Human resource manager plays an important role at the workplace to recruit suitable workforce
at the workplace. With the help of the HR manager, management becomes able to ascertain and
grab maximum outcome with positive results. With the help of the HR manager, companies can
determine such a workforce which employs beneficial outcome for a company. This report is
focused on Squire's Garden a medium size family owned business with expansion in 1964. The
HR manager of a company defines a responsibility to recruit a suitable candidate for a vacant job
position in the workplace. This report will be going to include the purpose and scope of human
resource management so that suitable and appropriate talent and the skilled person can hire at the
workplace. Along with this, key elements will be discussed as well with their effectiveness
determination. It will be going to discuss the external and internal factors which influence HRM
decision making with certain legislation.

a. Purpose of HR functions and importance to an organization
The major purpose of HR is to maintain the internal and external structure of the organization
and make effective application of current resources and make future plans as well. Other HR
functions include:
Aligning the human capital in the organization by knowing the work experience and area of
expertise of all the people and making effective application of their knowledge in order to make
effective application of the same. HR has to assign roles and responsibilities to the employees
and provide them with aligned roles and goals to be achieved in the organization. They have to
increase the teamwork and build up some spirit in the organization. This is the duty of HR to
make effective usage of the human capital and make them work with each other. Based on the
nature of the organization the HR will post appropriate job role and assign duties to all the
members in Squire’s Garden Centre. They will make the designated team for all the parts in the
garden thus helping them focus on each section and provide better results (Krantz and Parks,
2012).
Re-engineering of the organization can be done by HR by deciding roles and effective policies.
HR takes care of the interest of all the employees in order to deal with the changes in the market
and make the employees competent enough in order to deal with the needs of the company.
There should be proper policies to take care of safety and security as well as there should be
proper training sessions in order to know the impact of the transition in the market. They should

achieve. At the same time, employee capability has to be seen.
Understanding laws and legislation related to the employees and labor laws that have to be used.
HR has to see the nature of labor laws in the country and also associated trade laws that can be
implied to the employees in order to deal with the needs of the organization. There should be an
appropriate application of the legal framework in order to onboard the employees and also
effective documentation and provide appropriate documents to the employees and make
