This research project investigates the impact of various staff motivation schemes on employee retention, using a case study approach focused on Marks & Spencer. It begins by defining employee retention and then evaluates different types of staff motivation schemes, classifying them into monetary and non-monetary benefits, such as bonuses, rewards, and professional development opportunities. The study also analyzes the significance of effective staff motivation schemes in improving business performance and productivity, highlighting how motivated employees contribute to organizational stability, improved relationships, and acceptance of change. The methodology employs a deductive research approach, utilizing existing literature to understand the relationship between motivation and retention. Ultimately, the project aims to provide insights into how companies can retain talented employees through effective motivation strategies.
