Talent management basically involves the requirement of the human capital for a company and
also planning to meet the demands and needs. Its basically an organization’s ability to produce,
retain and recruit the most talented employees. In this report Sainsbury is chosen as the
organisation and the main aim is to analyze the influence of the satisfaction and retention of the
employees.
Talent management is referred as the process to identify, attract and retain talented staff
members with the objective to gain higher growth and success. Along with this, it is vital for a
company to focus on managing the talent as it assist to enhance productivity, improve brand
image and achieve competitive advantage at marketplace(Palander, 2019).
Talent management plays an important role within an organisation as it help in retaining talent
and hiring them that further leads company to execute all the activities in an effective and proper
manner(Zyablova, 2021). Along with this, it also allow an organisation to attract trained staff
members who brings creativity and new ideas at workplace that further leads towards attainment
of competitive advantage at marketplace.
For the present report, Sainsbury’s is taken into consideration. It is the second largest chain of
supermarkets which was founded in year 1863 and headquartered in London, UK. The company
has around 1430 shops globally which shows it has high market presence and growth as
well(Pandita, and Ray, 2018.).

further help researcher in job opportunities and professional domain. In relation to personal, it
assist in learning as well as improving skills that is data collection, data analysis, communication,
time management and many more. Furthermore, this will also help in conducting future study in
a systematic and appropriate manner. Apart from this, the research will contribute to Sainsbury’s
to analyse the impact of staff motivation schemes that further help in reducing employee
turnover and enhance staff retention.

members more productive. It is analysed that talent management plays an important role within

an organisation as it assists in improving performance, maintain positive working environment,
enhance productivity, improve brand image and also help organisation in achieving competitive
edge at marketplace (Talent management concept, 2021). Moreover, it also help a company to
retain its staff members for longer time period which is one of the major reason of an
organisational growth and success. It is determined that it is important for an organisation to
manage its talent in order to enhance its productivity and performance that is important for
dealing in this competitive marketplace.
Staff motivation strategies used by Sainsbury’s for employee retention and satisfaction at
workplace
According to the Thesis, (2012), there has been a proper research conducted for the purpose to
compare the employee retention strategies and practices of Sainsbury in the UK. There are
various staff motivation programs and strategies that are used by the organisation in order to
provide satisfaction and employee retention at the workplace. In order to motivate the
employees, a particular research has been conducted and various tools are used both in the
qualitative and quantitative manner in order to compare the employee retention practices. The
organisation focuses on adopting short term gains. As compare to its competitors the
organisation lacks in implementation of some important practices that involves communication,
extra benefits, management role and job empowerment.
Challenges faced by Sainsbury’s in implementing staff motivation strategies for employee
retention and satisfaction
As per the viewpoint of Reuters, (2019), the organisation has faced a lot of issues and
challenges in order to implement the various staff motivation strategies in order to satisfy the
employees at work place and employee retention. In order to deal with these issues the
organisation has focused on increasing a pay for the store staff. The company and its line
managers and leaders are focusing on motivating the employees and has also provided bonus
during the pandemic situation and has developed various strategies that can boost the morale of
the employees and motivates them to perform better in the organisation and achieve objectives.
In order to achieve organisational objectives it is very important for the company to constantly
work upon increasing the motivation level of employees and stimulating their minds to perform
better in the organisation that can help in achievement of both organisational goals and also
individual goals.
