and objectives(Wright,2018). It is a group of individuals that comes together and work on
relative functions like planning, controlling, organizing, directing and monitoring and achieve
organisations goals.
Present study is based on Imperial Hotel. It is in London 500 bedroom hotel. It is a well
known international chain of hotels in the 4 star market. It holds 25 hotels in UK. The location of
imperial hotel is London's west end. This hotel provides many facilities like conference facility,
leisure centre with swimming pool and 3bars etc.

will explain the management theories i.e. human relation theory and system theory and how they
will support to reducing employee turnover. Further more, it will also explained the solution by
effective management of the problems.
ANALYSIS OF THE INDIVIDUAL PROBLEM
Causes of staff turnover in Imperial hotel
Staff turnover is generally high due to the temporary nature of employment and low pay
in the imperial hotel for front level of management. There are number of issue of high staff
turnover in imperial hotel:-
Aggressive supervisory:- the supervisor's behaviour is very impolite with their staffs.
lack of communication between supervisor and subordinate is also created the
environment of conflict. The supervisor puts a lot of work burden on subordinate. The
subordinate is demotivated from their work and working environment and they takes
decision to leave the organisation(Zhang, 2016).
Unsociable working hour:- the imperial hotel's working hours are not comfortable for the
staff because their front-line staff works overnight and weekend shifts etc. that is not
healthy for the staff and they gets frustrated from their work and work-place and they
takes decision to leave the organisation(Evans, Thomas and MacDonnell,2018).
Lack of proper and regular training:- lack of training effects individuals work
performance because they do not improve their skills and abilities. lack of training
impacts not only individuals performance but also impact the business performance as
well and it enhances financial turnover that effects individuals pay rate.

Very less opportunity for promotion:- the staffs of imperial hotel are working from long
duration but their salary is remains same. They do not get any bonus and promotion that
de-motivates staff and increase turnover in imperial hotel. for example, the food services
of imperial hotel have very little opportunities for promotion and bonuses and very high
cost in travelling at night(Kim,2015).
Competitors hotel give better pay:- the supervisors of the imperial hotel have also left the
hotel because they are not provided competitive pay to their supervisors. So, the
supervisors are not satisfied from their salary and they also have better option then
imperial hotel such as their competitors hotel give better pay to supervisors from the
imperial hotel.
Low pay:- the imperial hotel do not give satisfactory wages to their employees that is also
a biggest reason of exceeding turnover rate(Evans, Thomas and MacDonnell,2018). With
the pay of imperial hotel, the employees do not fulfil their basic needs.
Management theories
Human relations theory:-
The aim of this theory is to determine how the variation in working condition and
payment influence the people's behaviour and their work performance. For that they are divided
the workshop in two parts: in one part, they are made changes in the rest time, more lighting,
employee's schedule etc. in second part are kept as control group. The result of this division is
unexpected means the productivity is effected by this division. With the implementation of this
theory, productivity is increased as well as improved working condition(human relations theory
by Elton Mayo,2019).
Human Relations theory is examined more in organisation. As relationship which the
company maintains with employees are more attracted to employee working and this only
motivated them to work hard and give more productivity to the company. Employees who are
interest in working can automatically give more output and also they engaged in company
working environment. The benefit of employee relation is that the workplace relationship is
important in the organisation to motivate the employee and if the employee is engaged with that
business they consider this business and employee as the part of the family and do work like
their own personal work.

Human relations theory has three features:-
The individual:- it gives importance to individuals perception and emotions. It believes
that the organisational output is depended on individuals performance. It can be improved
by maintaining good relation with individuals(Bratton and Gold, 2017).
Informal organisations: this theory believes that informal organisation structure is helps
to enhance communication between management and employees rather than formal
organisation who follow the formal structure at work-place.
Participative management: human relations theory advocates the participative
management. Participative management means manager should involve employees in
decision making and develops an understanding and build knowledge of the worker.
This theory helps in examine human behaviour in the organisation. with the help of
human relation theory, company maintain good relation with their employees. The employees are
satisfied from their work and work-place(human relations theory by Elton Mayo,2019). The
company can identify the workers behaviour towards the work and solve the problems of the
worker. Employee gets motivate and the performance is improved. The company can achieve
their objectives with more efficiency.
The theory helps imperial hotel to improve their relation with employees at workplace
and decrease the turnover ratio. The organisation can understand the behaviour of the employees
towards their work. With maintain good relation with employee they are motivated them to
increase their performance that can reduces turnover ratio.
System theory of management:-
System management theory is a management theory which organises the companies
structure, policies and procedures. System theory deals with four major elements that are
processes, data ,tools and organization. Here processes explains that how to deal with the
companies functions ,data provides information to perform that function ,tools are the
equipments and the policies to be used and the organisation is the people that support the
processes(what is system theory?,2019). The theory helps the organisation in understanding the
core areas of functioning and led the ways ,the policies and the procedures to be followed by the
company to be successful in the market.

This theory described the social system of the organisation. It can be open system and
close system, but most appropriate system is open system(Greene, 2017). Open system means
interaction with environment through input, process and output. Close system, it is not affected
by environment means they are related to internal factors of the organisation. Imperial hotel can
adopt open system in their management that helps to create relation with external environment as
well as their staff. It helps in reducing staff turnover ratio.
Here in the Imperial Hotel there is high staff turnover ratio which in turn leading the staff
to leave the work. These are some rules from the system theory to be opted by the Imperial Hotel
to control the staff turnover ratio:-
According to the theory ,if Imperial Hotel is adopted some compensation decisions like
providing overtime wages, incremental wages, attractive salary offerings and also the bonuses
which help motivate the employees.
The environment of the Hotel workplace should be healthy and there must not be any
quarrel between the employee and the supervisory also between the employees.
As per system management if Hotel Imperial studies the cultural values in which it is
working it creates the link between the hotel and the employees(Greene, 2017).
Theory explains employee development as the management aware of the employees needs
which are related to there well being and also the family lives ,which can be providing the
concessional medical treatment, free medical check up.
Hotel can taught the employees with the various skills and the techniques so that they gain
confidence over there work which in turn will increase the productivity of the
Hotel(Khorasani and Almasifard, 2017).
The powers of the authority can be delegated between the employees so that there is
sufficient work for all the employees and no burden on a bundle of persons(what is system
theory?,2019).
The employees can be divided in batches and a head or a supervisor could be allotted to each
batch so that employees get clear information what they need to do and in how much time.

Welcoming new ideas and innovations from the employees which can increase the
productivity of the Hotel and also the motivation to the employees. As the mostly work is
done by employees they know the low and high of the concern job.
Solutions
Transparent communication:- communication is a key of any successful management.
Communication is improved the relationship between employee and employer and build
their understanding towards each other. The management of imperial hotel can build their
relation with staff through communication by hearing their problem and their idea about
working condition(Williams,2015). With the help of communication, the Imperial hotel
not just build there relation with employee it also builds their relations with supplier,
customer and other people who effects business. Communication helps in reducing
misunderstanding between management and staff.
Provide flexibility in working hour:- in every organisation flexibility plays an important
role to reduce employee turnover because the imperial hotel's measure problem is their
working hour. Their working hour is very unsocial like night shift and weekend shift.
Flexibility means in night shift, management of imperial hotel can provide 5minitue tea
break in every two hour and also in weekend shift, they can reduce working hours etc.
that type of flexibility is given to the staff of imperial hotel. Flexible working hour builds
positive thinking about the organisation because the employees are thought that they are
important for the organisation(Kim,2015).
Rewards and incentives:- one of the biggest problem is they do not get return according
to their working ability. So, the management of imperial hotel can introduce reward and
incentives plans in their policies means if employees is given their extra effort and time
to their work can be eligible for incentives means extra pay for extra work. Rewards can
be monetary and non-monetary. Monetary means employees are received rewards in
terms of cash and cheque. Non-monetary means employees are received in term of
promotion and holiday package etc. this types of plan motivates employees to work hard
and enhance their performance(Noe and et.al., 2017).
Conducting induction& training programme:- if management of imperial hotel conducts
induction and training programmes to their employees that helps to enhance employee's
skills and ability as well as enhance the employees interest to perform work well that

reduces the turnover because if employee understands their work very well then they do
not want to leave their jobs that decrease the turnover rate. Induction programme also
helps to understand about organisation culture, way of working and rules and regulations
etc. training programme is very important of new as well as existing employee because it
provides basic understanding of their work.
Implement competitive salary structure:- management of imperial hotel have to improved
their pay structure because they are paid very low rate to their employees that is also a
main reason of increasing their turnover rate. If the imperial hotel increased the wages of
their employee that can help to reduce their turnover. The imperial hotel have to used
competitive salary structure means their salaries are equal to their competitors salary that
help to reducing turnover of the organisation because employees feels satisfied with their
salary so they do not think about leave the organisation(Williams,2015).

achieve the goals and decrease the turnover of the Imperial Hotel. Present report has concluded
