Introduction
The Stamford Sydney Airport Hotel is located adjacent to Sydney airport. It is just 20
minutes’ drive from Sidney city. At Stamford, we have been voted as the best airport Hotel in
Sidney, seven years in a row. In this journal, I will focus on aspects of emotional intelligence,
stress management, leadership characteristics, and people focus in relation to our hotel.
My capacity for the elements of emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage emotions of self and that of others. In my
hotel setting, I will employ the following in managing emotions. I will improve my self-
awareness by considering my negative emotions impact my colleagues and clients (Brandt &
Laiho, 2013). Additionally, I will improve how I show empathy by treating others how I would
want to be treated. I will also consider my social skills and focus on becoming a good
communicator by listening carefully and being professional in addressing situations.
Stress management.
A stressful working environment can result in physical and health degradations. In
Stamford Sydney Plaza Airport, stressful events are mostly due to the pressure to meet clients’
needs, unclear performance expectations and conflicting demands (Airport, 2018). I will address
workplace stress by applying the following measures. I will keep a record of my feelings,
thoughts, and reactions in the work environment (Metcalf & Benn, 2013). Through this, I can
establish a pattern in stressful situations and formulate means to solve them. I will also employ
relaxation techniques such as meditation and controlled breathing exercise to melt away stress.

The Stamford Plaza hotel employ a coaching leadership style in managing workers. The
hotel provides opportunities to self-driven and gifted workers to upgrade their skills and progress
their careers (Dartey-Baah, 2015). At Stamford, we are also encouraged to develop workplace
leadership qualities such as communication skills, passion, and understanding of the nature of the
customer. The management also delegates some responsibilities to workers.
People focus
At Stamford Plaza Sidney Airport, we offer programs such as airport transfers to our
clients for the seamless travel experience. Our clients can also do their bookings online through
sites such as trivago and we give special bonuses for that. Additionally, we encouraged our
customers to give reviews on the quality of service they get.
Conclusion
The foregone are some of the workplace aspects as reviewed in Stamford Plaza Sidney
Airport. They cover how a business entity can employ fundamental business attributes to ensure
business success. The aspect also covers how workers can cope with working conditions to
manage work stress and facilitate upward mobility in their careers. Such qualities are what have
enabled Stamford to be awarded as Best Airport hotel in Sydney.
