Report
AI Summary
This report presents a statistical analysis comparing two ulcer therapies, A and B, using SPSS. The study utilizes an independent samples t-test to determine if there is a significant statistical difference between the two therapies, analyzing clinical data from 43 participants including age, time since last visit, and disease duration. The findings indicate no significant statistical differences in time visiting, age, and disease duration between the two therapies. The report also discusses the limitations of the t-test, such as the need for normally distributed data and the assumption of equal variances. The conclusion recommends that therapists evaluate the effectiveness of both therapies to improve patient outcomes, suggesting potential improvements through new vaccinations and enhanced treatment quality. PURPOSE
The purpose of the study is to compare two ulcer therapies, “A and B” through gathering
clinical data about time of last visit in months, participants age and duration of disease of 43
participants. The data has been analyzed through application of suitable statistical test in SPSS.
METHODS
The current study is based on the application of independent sample t-test for comparing
the mean of both the ulcer therapies so as to identify that whether there is a significant statistical
difference or not between A & B (Coakes and Steed, 2009). Besides this, leneve’s test has been
applied to examine equality of variance assumption in the gathered data set. It helps to test the
equality of variances across sample, known as homogeneity of variances (Lowry, 2014).
RESEARCH QUESTION
Is there any significant statistical difference between ulcer therapies, A & B?
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
H0: There is no significant statistical difference between ulcer therapies, A & B.
H1: There is significant statistical difference between ulcer therapies, A & B.
FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
Average age of the participants in both the therapies has been derived to 50.74 years and
51.17 years. Average time visiting in last month in B group is to 10.96 whereas participants in A
therapy visited 9.74 times, as a result, mean disease duration for patients in B therapy is founded
comparatively lower to 1.25 whilst in A group, it is 1.32. For each of the data set, standard
deviation for the participants who are taking B therapy is reported comparatively lower as for
time visiting, age and duration, the S.D. have been founded to 2.216, 16.325 and 0.442 reported
less variability in the data series from the mean value comparatively to A therapy.
As per the outcome of t-test, sig value (P-value) for the time visiting in last month is
0.003 below alpha value, 0.05 violate equality of variance assumptions (Independent sample t-
test, 2015). Under the equal variance not assumed, sig. value (2 tailed) is derived to 0.201>0.05
that rejects alternative hypothesis and reported that there is no significant statistical difference
between time visited by the participants last month under both the therapeutically treatment.

For the age and duration of disease, P-value is 0.826 and 0.364 above test statistics, 0.05
that accepts homogeneity of variances assumption at a sig. value (2 tailed) of 0.933 and 0.643
above 0.05 that accepts null hypothesis by reflecting that there is no significant statistical
difference between mean age and mean duration diseases of the participants under different
therapies. At 95%, lower and upper confidence interval (CI) for the time visited, age and disease
duration have been determined to -0.3131-0.688, -10.738-9.878 and -0.218-0.350.
LIMITATION OF T-TEST
It requires normality distributed data set thus, cannot be used for the data set which is not
normally distributed.
It assumes equality of variances whereas it might be possible that data series does not
have equal variances (De Winter, 2013).
CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS
The report concluded that there are no significant statistical differences in the time
visiting, age and disease duration of the participants in both the A & B ulcer therapies as p-value
is above 0.05. On the basis of the findings, it can be recommended that therapist must look
towards the effectiveness of both the ulcer therapies provided to the patients to cure their
diseases. In order to improve the recovery rate, new vaccination & the best quality of therapy
treatment needs to be provided by therapists to enhance quality of life of the people.
