Describe STEM education. What is its significance to globalization and the economy?
STEM education basically refers to “Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths”.
However, it is often seen that these subjects are taught to students while they are studying in
schools. It is necessary for an individual to have STEM education because the subjects which are
included in this are helping in laying down a foundation for critical thinking and also a language
for their future (Agustina and Setiawan, 2019). When education is involved with an expectation
of future the growth and success of society can be seen. STEM generation is an important
concept required for providing education to the coming generation. The evolution of career as
well as industries is also supported by STEM Education as it can eventually help in changing the
communities that are left unprivileged. With the growth of technology and science it have
become necessary that children are provided with an exposure to technology in their very early
age itself. Studying various technologies will also help various learners in an economy to use
various tools of technology and make potential use of it. STEM education is also helping to
develop various powers that relate to reasoning, deductions as well as development of mastery in
pattern recognition.
Several countries are necessarily required to compete in the market place with each other
while they plan on going for globalisation. This competition is usually depending upon their
economies. There are a number of such economies that deal in more than one sector and there are
a number of industries that have various effects on the market place globally. The literacy rate of
any country is effective in describing the ways in which economy of a country will upscale.
Also, there are microeconomic studies that prove that appreciable returns can be seen in the
investment that are made on education sector (Corneille and et. al., 2020). These returns in
education sector are usually seen in the form of accelerated earnings and reduced unemployment
of individuals. When all these factors are taken into consideration it can be seen that the returns
that can be linked to any social factor are justifiable for economic development which also
supports education. STEM education is helping to make sure that involvement of a child should
be holistic in the learning process. With the help of STEM education being introduced there are a
number of other opportunities which are now contributing towards the growth of gross domestic
product in an economy. There are a number of surveys suggesting that difference between
STEM and NON-STEM education disciplines cannot be found easily. However, there are a

number of faculties who believe STEM education to be better than Non-STEM. They support it
more as compared to an average citizen.
Discuss the pedagogic model that is suitable for STEM education. How is it related to enterprise
education?
Pedagogy basically refers to the approach which is used for teaching through both the
practical and theory approaches. Three basic activities that are involved in pedagogy are teaching
styles, teaching theory and feedback and assessment. There are a number of different approaches
to pedagogy. These includes behaviourism, constructivism, social constructivism, liberationism
and so on.
From all the above mentioned approaches to pedagogy the method that should be used for STEM
education is constructivist. In this method of pedagogy there are a central notion is is taken under
which it is thought that the learners are to develop and construct their own understanding of the
world and people around them which will be majorly based on their experiences. The
constructive approach is a great approach that allows people to be more constructive as well as
gain knowledge in a constructive way rather than passively achieving it (Hollins, 2019). Another
effective approach to be used for STEM education is Collaborative Learning. It I an educational
approach in which a number of group of workers are involved together who are learning a work
in order to solve some problem, go through a task or develop something new. These approaches
will effectively help in developing STEM education.
Enterprise education is a field that helps students to successfully develop an attitude, skill
as well as knowledge of the entrepreneur. The individuals who are into enterprising are thriving

as well as initiating for changes. Enterprise is effectively helping students to develop a number of
qualities such as determination, self-reliance etc. to successfully succeed. STEM education and
enterprise education are very closely related as STEM education prepares students to achieve big
in future and enterprise education is helping them to successfully set a career and become an
entrepreneur (Kozlinska, Rebmann and Hytti, 2019). STEM education is helpful in providing
practical skills which is then carried forward by enterprise education to set a career for students
after academics. However, the advancement in economy takes place after a long-term period but
it definitely has to occur. Thus, it can be seen that enterprise education have been an important
part of educational sector these days. All the countries need to include this in their educational
system.
