INTRODUCTION
Leadership is the art of inspiring and motivating a team of worker in workplace to act
towards achieving and obtaining common aim. In a venture setting, it can mean guiding and
directing employees and co-workers with a tactic to meet organization’s needs. In order to
achieve set aims and objectives of a company, leaders always adopt an appropriate leadership
style which is quite beneficial for them as well as companies. The current assignment will base
on Alan sugar, who falls under list of successful business leaders in the whole world. It will
further define detailed analysis in context of leadership styles of chosen business leader.

Analysis of leadership styles of Steve Jobs
Leadership style is a leader’s approach and manner of providing directions, guidance,
motivating worker and implementing plans (Al Khajeh, 2018). Every successful business leader
in the world of commercial, use specific and most effective leadership style in order to gain
competitive advantages and achieve goals. As seen by workers, it include total pattern of implicit
and explicit actions performed by their leaders. There are varied types of leadership styles
accessible in business world such as authoritative, democratic, laissez fair, autocratic, affiliative
leadership style etc.
It can be analysed that Alan sugar is one of the most successful and well known business
leaders (Smith, 2019). He is popular as Lord Sugar and now Baron Sugar, he make his fortune in
customer electronic sector, by developing the most famous computer brand known as Amstrad,
which he later sold to BSkyB for roughly 187 million in 2007. He has autocratic leadership style
which he used to manage staff and their performance at workplace. Alan Sugar is characterized
by high degree of control which permits him to make all judgements without consulting his
employees. He is an inspiring businessman and motivating business leader to many individual
and has an admirable leadership status. He is determine as a leader for many reasons, Alan sugar
began his journey as an business man with 100 pounds which he managed to turn into 750
million giving him his position. With autocratic leadership style, he takes a lot of decision in
effective manner and guides each applicant accordingly.
Autocratic leadership styles is also known as authoritarian, it is a form characterized by
person control over all decisions and few inputs from team members (Gandolfi and Stone, 2017).
Autocratic leaders usually make choices based on their decisions and ideas and rarely accept

opinion from followers. Alan Sugar has these characteristics, he had meticulous eye for detail
and surrounded himself with like skilled and minded people to follow his lead. His meticulous
eye for detail, his creative and innovative awareness, was clearly a driving factor in Electronic
organization Amstrad.
The best example of Alan Sugar leadership style, is that workers make their suggestions
and then present in front of Lord Sugar which he accepts (Harwell, 2018). He is a quite
autocratic, an honest and one dimensional leader which some may perceive as negative or
positive attributes. As a outcomes of his accomplishment he is an inspiring and motivating
character to inspire success. He is able to build positive working relation by using his leadership
style. Group member might make recommendations that are in company’s best interest, Alan
sugar accepts little inputs from his venture partners but takes a high way or my way type
approach and show himself as only business leader with all authority. Although he continually
implements this method, there are varies up and coming businessman who can jump at chance to
work with him by collaborating in reality shows such as Apprentice.
With autocratic leadership style Alan sugar manage large number of unskilled and
untalented applicants (Pandeli, 2018). As a outcome, benefits of this style can outweigh pros
some other styles of leadership. Way of his leading has supported and helped him to become a

productivity level even better and more than its competitors. He always controls each and every
activity of employees as well as measure business activities, which is actually very important for
any business leader to do. Furthermore, it has been summarized that Steve Jobs is known for his
ruling and leadership style in the world.
