Before doing the research, I considered the strategic planning to be the planning in which
strategies were decided in advance in the company. It is a method of defining the plan or way
and making choice on the distribution of the assets in done to pursue the strategy in the
organisation. But after doing the research on the strategic planning in the enterprise, the
concept is quite different and vaster in nature (Al-Turki, 2011).
Strategic enterprise planning can be defined as the methodology which is backed up by the
technology in the organization. This planning is used to assist an organization in creating,
maintaining their financial and operational plans into the one cohesive and integrated system.
This planning includes the scanning of the internal and external environment as those factors
also affects the functioning of the enterprise. There are many key challenges experienced at
all the levels in the organization but by using these proper planning the issues and problems
can be resolved in the organization. From the development of plan and implementation, there
are several issues and conflicts which can be resolved by using the proper technology in the
business (Elbashir, Collier & Sutton, 2011).
There are various advantages as well as disadvantages of the strategic planning which
includes the technological advancement in the business which brings the efficiency in the
accounts. The use of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) in the business will make
simplification and accountability in the working of the resources. The resources allocation
and counting can be done with more authenticity in the business. This will save the resource
and optimum utilization of the resources should be there in the business. The progress
measurement of the business can be done easily with the use of strategic planning as well as
the process of decision making can be simplified (Galliers & Leidner, 2014).
Basically, strategic planning is done to know the internal and external forces operating in the
market and what opportunities and threats, company is going to face in the near future. But
