cardiovascular risks and need for regular exercise has increased the motivation of people
to join gyms as soon as the pandemic is over and there is an estimated increased potential
demand (Thompson, 2018).
Massive increase in the in-house fitness: The major negative impact of Covid-19 was the
rise in home fitness revolution due to closure off gyms. This was countered heavily
through the use of technology like social media sits and video calling applications and
increase in the subscription of fitness videos on YouTube. A rise in the purchase of
fitness equipment is observed, although there is limitation to home workout experiences.
Digital fitness: Multiple applications have been downloaded since the lockdown and
people are optimally utilising virtual workouts and streaming platforms, therefore it is
essential that Bounce Fitness embraces this strategy to generate income and future proof
the business.
Increase in the need for hygiene, cleaning and social distancing: Even after reopening,
Bounce Fitness has to especially see that the environment around its Gym centres remain
sanitised at all times, follows appropriate guidelines of health and safety measures. There
are various government regulations and policies which have to be adhered to by Bounce
Fitness for smooth functioning of the business. All the staff will have to properly tackle
gymgoers and training is needed for practicing workouts with limited number of people
in effective ways.

Staffing is the process of placing the right number of employees who have appropriate
qualifications and experience in the relevant fields and are the right fit as per the job role. The
outline of the strategic plans of Bounce Fitness are business innovation, establishing new fitness
centre, showing above the market return on investment, higher investment in customer relation
management, planning the workforce, selection, development and retention of the best talent and
enabling the company. The number of staff they will have to hire will increase as they are
opening a new fitness centre. Currently they have branches across Brisbane, Sydney, Cairns,
Melbourne and have head offices and centres. The major roes that will be available for the

operators and sanitation staff and janitors. The company has to determine the requirement of
workforce by finding out the needs, vacancies and estimate the potential number of staff needed.
The major skills that the fitness instructors will need are good communication skills, dedication
for fitness, relevant certifications and technical knowledge, empathy and teaching skills, string
passion. In order to obtain the people recruitment drives can be conducted online through
external sources of recruitments like online job portals and career pages of the website etc. and
an extensive interview and selection procedure will be undertaken (Black, 2019).
Q.2D. Impact on technology on Bounce Fitness
The innovations and automation brought by technology directly and indirectly impact the
fitness industry in many ways. Areas like customer acquisition, round the clock availability,
convenience through fitness applications, gadgets for monitoring fitness, high quality gym
equipment and machinery, costs of membership, additional facilities etc. are impacted.
Digital marketing and social media have helped in acquisition of new customers with
ease through social media interactions on and high lead conversions. Technology has also
changed the medium of instructions which have now turned virtual or online through YouTube
tutorials and live fitness sessions. This has directly affected staffing and highly qualified staff
can be recruited or partnered up who can work specifically as an online instructor for Bounce
Fitness. There is rising influence of online community groups where people interact freely and
has increased the chances for staff to interact with potential customers. Also, the fitness
instructors have to work on more personalised experiences by customizing workout schedules
according the client needs. However, the demerits of technology are that all the bad reviews are
now published online and seen by the entire online community, therefore its is essential that staff
behaves and trains to the best level to gain high customer satisfaction. Consumers are even more
aware due to convenience of fitness applications and want expertise in every activity they
undergo, which means the staff has to be highly trained and skilled. Overall, the technology will
bring major changes in how job roles are performed as the staff will become more productive
and careful and aim to gain higher customer satisfaction (Garfin, 2020).

Q.2E. Current/potential changes in legislation impact on staffing
The major legislations that could impact Bounce fitness are the employment and labour
laws and regulations which prominently regulate the employment system in Australia which
affects the staffing process of recruitment and selection and management of employees whether
hired on a permanent or contractual basis. The current National Employment Standards have set
out minimum entitlements for all workers except some state and public sectors workers. These
include restrictions upon number of working hours in the gym, the status of paid and unpaid
holidays and leaves, employment contract specifications, rules regarding notice of termination
and redundancy payments. Laws also include prevention of bullying and harassment, anti-
discrimination policy, minimum wage, equality in workplace, overtime or rates of penalties,
dispute resolutions workplace surveillance, superannuation etc. The most significant forecast are
changes in laws regarding the health and safety after the covid-19 pandemic which can be
imposed on Bounce Fitness (Yin, Li and Dila, 2020).
