EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Strategic human resource management is the essential approach so that they have to
manage the human resources so that the company have to attain the success in the competitive
market. They have to follow the different strategies and policies so that they can attain the goals
and targets. They have to make the right decisions so that they can attain the success. Sainsbusy
have to provide the incentives or rewards so that employees can do the best work and company
can attain the leading position. Along with this employees can improve the performance so that
they can achieve the targets (Mondy and Martocchio, 2016). They have to use the innovative and
new technology so that they can increase the satisfaction level of the consumers. The employees
have to do the proper communication among the employees so that they can attain the targets and
also goals and objectives which are pre decided by the higher authorities of Sainsbury. The
company have to manage the human resource which will help in reducing the cost and have to do
proper promotion so that they can attain the maximum profit. Company has to provide the best
quality product and services by that entity can increase the sales and consumers can increase the
satisfaction level.
INTRODUCTION
Strategic human resource management is the important approach which helps in
managing the human resources that support the goals of long term business and attain the
outcomes with having the framework of strategies. The company members have to focus on the
long term resource so that they can attain the long term goals such as reward or performance and
also they determine the business strategy. The present report is based on Sainsbury which is a
largest chain of supermarket (Mondy and Martocchio, 2016). Goal of the company is to make
consumers lives easier, offering best quality and service at fair prices that serve the consumers
whenever and wherever they want. This assignment contains the challenges and issues in
management of work, review and analyse of human resource management model and also
evaluate the strategic approach so that they can manage the people has to be discussed.
TASK
LO 1
By doing the proper work by the employees in the entity they face the issues or the
challenges in managing the work. The members of Sainsbury have to do the proper planning so

that they have to make the overall business plan. They have to adopt the business strategies and
objectives that is for both short and long term so that they human resource will be needed that
have to assigned the job responsibilities (Berman and et.al., 2015). They have to make the right
decisions on the design, selection, retention, training and development, performance
management and rewards in Sainsbury. The company members has to use the new and
innovative technology so that they can attain the high performance in the competitive market. In
the entity, they have to do the proper communication between the employees so that they can do
the proper changes. Main challenges are :-
Attracting, motivating and retaining job performers – The company members have to follow
the strategies and policies in the favour of the employees. Along with this the workers have to do
the proper work with the proper skills and knowledge. The higher authorities of Sainsbury has to
manage the cost so that they can not face any problem and also attain the success. Those person
of the entity who give the high performance they are in demand (Mathis and et.al., 2016).
However, employers have to focus on improving the performance at the expense of developing
and motivating the employees. The employer have to align the management of the performance
so that they attain the business goals so that they can ensure the rewards with the different type
of behaviour so that they can achieve the success of organization in the market. The members of
Sainsbury has to attract, motivate and retain the different kind of person so that they have to
make the difference in the organisation. They have to implement the d8ifferent policies or the
strategies so that they can improve the management of the performance that helps the higher
authorities and employees so that they can attain the goals and objectives and also encourage the
employees to do the better work. Along with this they have to take the continuous feedback from
the employees. The company members have to identify the employees so that they can contribute
the high values and also determine the person so who gives the motivation and also develop the
goals (Karadjova-Stoev and Mujtaba, 2016). The higher authorities of Sainsbury have to develop
the reward and recognition system so that they provide the specific and customized the rewards
to the employees.
Technology – The company members have to do the work with the new technology because
consumer wants the new and innovative products and services which helps in attaining the
success and targets. The benefits of using the new technology is that functions of human resource
become substantial and all the programs become accessible and affordable. The team of HR in

Sainsbury has to do the improvement in the effectiveness of organisation. Along with this they
have to improve the structure of cost so that they can achieve the targets and also fulfil the
requirements of consumer needs and wants (Jabbour and de Sousa Jabbour, 2016). They have to
make the right decision and also encourage the proper communication of employee and
employer. By this they can increase the efficiency and can reduce the cost.
Benefits and cost – The premium of health care so that they can continue in increasing the
excessive share of resources and also maintain the strategies so that they can attain the success
and this impact the cost. The members of Sainsbury have to implement and communicate the
spending accounts. Along with this they have to educate the employees about the proper
planning. The staff members have to review the plans and attain the benefits so that they can
attain the benefits in increasing the benefit cost (Heizer, Render and Munson, 2016).
Managing gain sharing – The company member have to meet the minimum requirements so
that they can attain the success in the market place. They have to make a plan by which they
influence the performance which is to be measured so that they can attain the maximum profit

targets should be specific and challenges become reasonable which improve the business strategy
and the competitive environment. the managers of the entity have to take the feedback so that
they can improve the skills and knowledge where necessary. The members of Sainsbury have a
fully control of the resources of the company and also do the additional resources so that they
can attain the targets and success.

The relationship between the performance of the entity and management of human resources so
that they can linked with the two approaches that is “best practice” and “best fit”. The entity have
to take the advantage of both approach so that they have to carry out their human resource
activities. Best practice believes that the activities of human resources so that they have to carry
out the practice of human resource management which is capable so that they can improve any
organisational performance of the location and size of Sainsbury (Marchington, 2015). They
have to adopt the best fit model so that they can improve the policies with the business strategy.
Along with this the high performance so that entity will achieved the success. The set of
practices of human resource so that they can postulate which includes the human security and

employee selection, effective use of teams. Along with this they have to maintain the effective
compensation strategies, performance appraisal or the measurement.
The company members have to provide the training and development or the reduction of
the differences of status. They have to adopt the flatter organisation structure and all the work

doing the proper promotion, employee ownership (Buckley, Wheeler and Halbesleben, 2015).
Sainsbury have to take the suggestions from the employees so that they can do the proper
promotions. Along with this they have to take the recommendations for the job rotation, for the
career ladder and also the possibility of the progression for the employees. They have to make
the proper strategy so that they can easily achieved the goals which are predetermined. They

management system that they have to right work in proper manner. All the work should be done
in a team so that they can attain the targets and success. In this approach employees have to do

to be achieved then it is essential for the managers to manage the activities of the business so that
the goals of the company can be achieved (Al-Sarayrah and et.al., 2016). Employees are the most
important asset for a company so to manage them is the most important element. SM is a

strategic management approach. As the workers have to manage the activities at the
workplace so they need the training and development sessions (Supangco, 2016). If the
SM used it can be beneficial for training the workers on the matters of the company and
its workings.
Monitor and control: the strategic approach manages and makes a proper control on the
workers in the company. So this can be used for managing and taking care of the
employees so that their workings can be monitored on regular basis (Khan and Rasheed,

business environment can be known by them. If they will be having the knowledge of the
workings of the company then they will be able to perform in the most effective way. So this is

From the above report it has been observed that the employees of Sainsbury have to do
the proper communication so that they can not face the problems. Along with this they have to
follow the strategies so that they can achieve the targets and goals also attain the leading position
