The first reason why companies need to hire the right people at the right time is to save
on cost. According to the video, the Bronze restaurant avoided the cost of hiring at once the
number of employees that will serve a capacity of 6300 people per month based on their market
study. Since the restaurant anticipated a 10% increase every month, the manager knew the
number of staff to be required each month (Krstić and Kahrović, 2015, pp.33). This assisted it to
direct the cost it should have used in hiring in other developmental activities of the restaurant.
The second reason is increasing the productivity of the business. In scenario four, the millennial
create excuses such as “mental health day” to take a day off not putting into consideration that
their absentee may affect an organization’s productivity.
The third reason is flexibility in handling duties. Having the right employees who are
flexible ensures the smooth running of business activities. In the second scenario, scheduling a
meeting becomes hard since the employee does not recognize time before 10 am and committing
to duties before that time seems impossible. The fourth reason is for problem-solving, in the first
scenario, the employee did not apply the knowledge and training given in carrying out the market
research. Instead of using the market research database, he used Google. The fifth reason is
having employees that are willing to go the extra mile. In the video, an employee wants a
promotion but does not go the extra mile. The employee is self-centered and was only interested
in the promotion.

Outsourcing is a competitive necessity for organizations. First, keeping up with
advancements in technology is expensive and time-consuming. Therefore, outsourcing for
technological services is a competitive advantage for companies (Kotlarsky, Scarbrough and
Oshri, 2014, pp. 607). Due to stiff competition in the business world, customers run to
organizations that provide first and efficient customer services. This cannot be a success without
using the use of technology. This makes outsourcing such technologies a competitive necessity
since it is cost-effective.
Second, firms may need to catch up with their competitors hence opting for outsourcing.
Building new skills to catch up with other forms in the industry may take a lot of time and
resources (The Importance of Having the Right People, 2020). For the firm to focus on its goals,
outsourcing becomes a necessity for it to build new competencies. Besides, outsourcing to catch
up may serve the organization several purposes. For instance, existing operations may not be
cost-effective compared to outsourcing which allows a company breathing space to re-invent
future capabilities.
The third reason why outsourcing is a competitive necessity is due to emerging markets.
In emerging markets, both the clients and technology are drastically changing and there is high
uncertainty. These give developed companies a chance to build flexible combinations that are
developing technology and exploiting new markets (Awino and Mutua, 2014, pp.47). However,

this cannot be done by one firm. Therefore, this calls for partnering which is outsourcing core
activities. This is because no company have sufficient competencies hence multiple
competencies are important for the origination to effectively function. Partnership as a form of
outsourcing, in the end, becomes a competitive necessity for a company.
