1. Introduction
The notable aim of this report is to focus on the success factors as well as the lessons
which can be learnt from the discussion of four examples which will be illustrating and
reviewing attempts to install IS/IT systems on their business environment.
According to Alamri et al. (2016), strategic use of IS/IT systems is very much desired
from the users of those systems as there are few limitations associated with those systems
which might have a negative impact on the users. On the other hand, as discussed by Du Toit
(2016), strategic use of Information System (IS) must be considering the security as well as
the ethical considerations. At the same time, Almajali, Masa'deh and Tarhini (2016) said that
the external and internal factors which might have an impact during the implementation of
those systems as well.
2. Four examples regarding the use of IS/IT systems
The ensuing segment of this report shall be identifying the attempts of four business
entities who have made an attempt regarding the enactment of IS/IT system on their business
environment.
2.1 Vodafone Australia
This organization wanted to simplify the existing consumer service approaches with
an automated IS system, the new IS was supposed to resolve the queries coming from their
clients via telephones calls, feedback forums or emails (Discover.vodafone.in. (2019). There
was a 24-hour live chat option associated with there is which was supposed to provide them
with a competitive advantage of other telecommunication organization in Australia such as
Telstra.

2. Four examples regarding the use of IS/IT systems

organization were taken under consideration by this system.

Robust testing procedures were considered in the En-Route Automation
modernization in the American traffic systems (Storm 2019). There were huge project
management issues which was identified as the root cause of the failed IS implementation.
3. Success factors & lessons learned
The key success factors which were considered during evaluation of the strategic
deployment of IT technologies and Information Systems which are described in the following

5. Conclusion
Lack of a professional planning procedure was the prime reason behind the negative

IS systems in Nestle and ODI cricket was a success as they considered the key success factors
like business competence and effective training in order to maintain the success of this IS
implementation project. It can also be concluded that the implementation of IS failed in the
aviation industry of USA due to lack of maintaining organizational structure. The report was
also very much useful to identify internal and the external factors which might have an
impact regarding the addition of IT/IS system in a commercial organization such as the
organizational structure and consumer demands.
6. Recommendations
The recommendations regarding the strategic use of IS are listed as followings:
Incorporation of qualitative risk and cost management plan
Selection of human resources based on experience and expertise
Soft skills development training for the workers who shall be working with this new
system.
