Introduction
A leader is a person who not only motivates other people rather also set a positive and
inspirational image for the followers. A leader guides, motivates, encourages, and inspire
other people to perform better in both personal and professional lives. Leaders are the key of
any business organisation that determine the way of success and helps other people to
perform well in the organisation in order to achieve organisational goals and objectives
(Sugiyama, Cavanagh, van Esch, Bilimoria, & Brown, 2016). Some leaders are born with
qualities while some leaders are developed by acquiring skills and knowledge. This report
also shows the key characteristics of a leader and shows how a good leader motivates other
people. This report also reflects my leadership styles and capabilities to motivates, guide, and
inspire other stakeholders. This report includes my strength and weakness of managing
people and describes how I can overcome my weakness and issues related to leadership.
However, to overcome these issues to become an effective leader in the future, I have
formulated a plan that describes how I can develop leadership skills.
The essential Character of a good leader
Leaders plays an important role in motivating and encouraging people for the
achieving the life goals and accomplish the life ambitions. There are many leaders defines the
leadership traits in different ways but a best definition that can be considered and will be fee
anywhere was given by John C Maxwell. According to the John C. Maxwell, “a leader is a
person who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (Amanchukwu, Stanley, &
Ololube, 2015)”. This definition of John C. Maxwell shows the importance and key
characteristics of leadership in one sentence. However, a leader is a person who knows that
how to turn the ideas into real world success stories. A leader has always a visionary power to
see things in long-term scenario and select the best choices available among various
alternatives to attain the future goals (Bullock, 2010). However, there are various
characteristics of a good leader but some of the key characteristics are as follow:
1. Honesty and Integrity: A leader should be honest with both with himself and
with others as well. An excellent leader always focuses on integrity and never
fears to speak reality or truth in front of people (Kurucz, Colbert, Luedeke-
Freund, Upward, & Willard, 2017). Accept the bad things and convey the truth to

the followers and other stakeholders should be the essential qualities of a good
leader. Otherwise, how a leader expect that his/her followers will be honest and
speak truth if he does not speak truth or honestly to the people (Baron, 2016).
2. Confidence: A leader should always be confident in his/her decision-making,
approaches, and in life style. A leader should confident enough to ensure that
other stakeholders or followers follow the command of leader. If a leader will not
be confident in his decision-making and command, other will not follow the
command of leader (Johansson, Starmark, Berglund, Rödholm, & Rönnbäck,
2010).
3. Inspire others: It is one of the key characteristics of an effective leader but it is
also very tough for a leader to persuade other people (Thaler & Levin-Keitel,
2016). It is also possible for a leader to inspire other people if he/she sets example
for others. A leader should lead from the front and inspire other people to do the
same. If a leader handles the pressure very well, the other people follow them and
believe in him (McAdams & Olson, 2010).
4. Communication Skills: A leader should be a good communicator and having
abilities to perform better in front of others. If a leader can convey the message
properly to its followers and communicate his vision and mission to his teams, it
will help the leader to implement the strategy very well (Mullins & Schoar,
2016).
5. Decision-making capabilities: This is another key characteristic of a leader
because without decision-making capabilities or skills a leader cannot influence
the masses. A leader should take the decision after thinking properly and
positively and should stand by it. However, a leader should concern before taking
his decision to a key person or stakeholder, because sometime individual
decisions leads to huge loss for the organisation or for the other people (Winters,
Jackson, & Mohammed, 2016).
Apart from this, a leader should have several other key qualities like motivating other
people, accountability in works, delegation of work and empowerment etc. A leader should
also be creative and innovative who can beer risk and do not fear with negative outcomes or
consequences. A leader should also be empathetic and should take their decisions based on
humanity and ethics.

Analysis of leadership and stakeholder management relationship
The relationship between a leader and its stakeholders is significant to achieve the
organisational goals and objectives. A leader may have various types of stakeholders such as
executives, managers, employees, finance and sales departments, sales department, and other
colleagues (Dodgson, Agoglia, & Bennett, 2017). It is necessary for a leader to maintain a
good relationship with all these stakeholders in the organisation and influence them towards
the organisational goals. However, as a leader I have several qualities that help me to become
a good leader in the organisation and manage the relationship really well (Chesney, Chuah,
Hoffmann, Hui, & Larner, 2016).
The key strength of my leadership style
To analyse the strength of my weakness and strength I have analysed my key strength on
the several test and I found that I have all the qualities to become a good leader in future.
First of all, to check my leadership style I have checked my score on MBIT Test and I found
several key strength and traits of my leadership.
1. MBIT Test outcomes: MBIT test check the personality of a person on four
principles. These principles are Extraversion, Intuition, Feelings, and Judgement
(Ozga, 2009). This assessment demonstrates the diverse character of an individual
such as characteristics or traits of an individual in unusual conditions. It also shows
the thinking style, nature, behaviour and working style of a particular other people
(Bregoli, Hingley, Del Chiappa, & Sodano, 2016). The outcome of this taste shows
that I always care about building a good relationship with other people. I focus on
what other says to me and always interested to listen other’s problems. The five
principles on which I have test my personalities are as follow:
Extraversion: This principle shows that I usually friendly with other stakeholders and I
love to build relationship and connected with other people.
Intuition: I believe in taking modern and innovative approach to solve a problem. These
types of people always prefer to think before making any decision (Ruben, De Lisi, &
Gigliotti, 2018). I love to use technology in to aid in my decision-making and working
style.
Feelings: As a leader a person, need to think about several things with patience and with
humanity and ethical approach. I found that I have all these three qualities.

Judgement: These type of people are lacking in proper arrangement of things (Shamir &
Eilam-Shamir, 2018). I love to expose my choice to others and ask for the opinion. I
never judged my stakeholders on the basis of stereotype thinking rather I give more
importance to their choices and needs.
2. Big 5 personality Traits: The Big 5 personality test analyse the leadership and
personality traits of a person on five dimensions which are shown in the table. The
table shows my score in Big 5 Personality test (which I have done online). The
screenshot of my scores are attached below:
This test shows my personality on five magnitude of character which are as follow:
1. Extraversion: My score in the first section, which is Extraversion, is just 53% that
shows that I am neither an introvert nor an extrovert kind of person. I like to speak
when it needed. It means I love to be living energetic and I am always focused.
2. Agreeableness: In the second category, I found that my score is quite high (86%), it
means I listens other people, trying to help people when needed, and solve the

problems of others. My nature is reflecting a high degree of sympathy towards other
people (VanderLinden, te Nijenhuis, & Bakker, 2010).
3. Consciousness: In this section, I scored 93%, which means I love to live my life in
my own way. I am organises and well-focused on my future goals and targets. I am an
ambitious person who loves to achieve my goals in my own ways.
4. Emotional Stability: My score in this section was 66%, which means that I am
emotional but not so emotion to take wrong decisions. I behave with people very well
and also love to establish relationship with people, which is a fact about my
personality and nature. I always avoid negative though of people and accept positive
thoughts of them.
5. Openness to Experience: In the last section, I have scored 73%, which means that I
am so artistic, logical, smart, and thinkable person.
The key strength of my leadership style
These personality tests show my strength and weakness to be a good leader. After these
personality tests, I found several weaknesses in my leadership style in managing relationship
with various stakeholders and peoples in the organisation (Hristov & Zehrer, 2015). These
weaknesses can be explained in following points:
1. I can easily deviate from my main objective and targets, as I am more emotional
person. I always thinking about others and even my decision-makings are also
influenced by other people.
2. I give priority to other person and always think about the interest of others. It will
be harmful for me in maintain relationship with every. Although, in negotiation
process, I prefer to give importance to the other people interest but it will not be in
my favour, neither in favour of my organisation.
3. My personality tests reflect that I give more attention to other problems rather than
myself.
4. A leader should never always prefer to do the work only by himself and in his own
way (Lu and Hsiao, 2010). Therefore, delegation of work and responsibility cannot be
follow in these conditions.

After analysing my personality and check it on various personality test models, I
found that I need some plan to develop my leadership skills and remove my weakness from
my personality. I found that I have to work on improving my leadership skills by framing it in
right schedule and work plan.

This plan helps me out to develop required personal leadership skills that help me to
establish a good relationship with stakeholders and achieve my organisational/personal goals
effectively and efficiently. This plan is based on my weakness of managing people and more
involved in other’s problem rather than focusing on my own issues. It is a major issue with
me.
Conclusion
In conclusion, a great leader is a person who always finds the balance among
performance, business insights, character, behaviour, and taking perfect decision when
needed. A leader should be visionary and having a good nature and behaviour with his
followers/subordinates/stakeholders. To become a good leader, these characteristics are
needed in any organisation or in any situation. However, it has been found that no one is
perfect in anything and everyone has some strengths and weakness. When I assessed my
personality in the MBIT test and Big 5 personality test, I found that I have also lacking in
some key characteristics, which is needed, for a good leader. After doing self-assessment
about my personal leadership, I found that I have many key characteristics of a good leader
such as I am good motivator, inspire people easily, easily establish a good relationship etc.
However, after these all findings I have few weakness such as I easily deviate from my path
goals, I am too emotional and not arranged etc. However, if I execute my plans according to
my leadership plans and strategy and I will follow all the instruction, I will definitely develop
some leadership skills and removing my weakness from my character. I believe that after all
these self-assessments, I would be able to become a good leader and become a charismatic
leader in my organisation.
