Strategic leadership has proved necessary in every business firm to led working for get
business outcomes being the completed and enriched. The purpose of this report is to talk on
matter of strategic leadership and corporate level strategies in a real life organisation named
Tesla. This is the American automotive and energy company based in Palo Alto. Organisation is
well-known for its electric car manufacturing, solar panel and other solar equipment’s.
MAIN BODY
1. Analysis of the strategic leadership
Tesla is well known for its innovation in automotive sector to give people with support to ease
own life. In Tesla, influences of people and strategic leadership which was implemented by
founder and CEO Elon Musk. The mission of the Tesla is to accelerate the world transition to
sustainable energy (Alwen and et. al., 2017) Along with this, vision of this leading automotive is to
customer think in an environment friendly manner and value of the Tesla is comprises of
environmental protection and sustainability, when using automotive products. In this firm,
leadership is a major strategic issue, as because of an ideology of only one person i.e., Elon
Musk. Not autocratic leadership, Tesla is working under laissez-fair leadership. Strategic
decision making have to be taken by top management, because of lack of trust and capabilities
among other employee’s. This issue comes under leadership style and its components.
The mission, vision and values of the Tesla have major influences on corporate level
strategies and in response this has put effect on strategic leadership of this Tesla. If leadership of
would be accurate, this will assist in taking corporate level decision making for Tesla to achieve
business sustainability aims or objectives. The mission & vision of the Tesla are linked in
various manner such as deciding the scope for bringing business sustainability in production of
an automotive products, solar based equipment etc., to save energy and cost of the people. Thus,
Tesla have to be work on strategic development to gather business objectives to accomplished in
give time sources.
2. Analysis of the corporate level strategies
Tesla is one of the leading automotive business and energy equipment firm which is well-
known for its innovative vision, mission and values which they have co-related to accomplishing

strategies such as corporate, business level strategies etc. (Simsek and et. al., 2015) The current
project of the Tesla is to produce energy renewable product in-vision to gather business
objectives to support people into saving peoples cost and time. In this context, corporate level
strategies will be taken care to led the development of business goals and objectives to
accomplish defined goals of a business entity. In context of the Tesla, corporate level strategies
such as growth, stability and turnaround strategies.

Growth: This strategy is spreads in organisation structure and used to be communicated
to prospective leader or manager in given point of time (Day, C., and et. al., 2016). This includes:
horizontal and vertical strategy with help of which business can arranges the resources to be in
perfect period of time. With help of the vertical, Tesla can decide to make own resources to
manufactures electric car, but in controversial manner, this would costly for Tesla to setup the
plant and machinery which will assist in producing raw materials, instead of outsourcing it. On

Market penetration: With use of the market penetration, Tesla can be able to sell its own
product in an existing market either by use of lower down products pricing or by leading change
in existing products to make its for customer’s.
Market development: With this strategy, Tesla have options to sell their existing products
such as electronic automotive, solar equipment to new market either in new location or place to
gather business objectives by looking strategic development or formation.
Diversification: This is most necessary component of corporate level strategies, in which
strategies is used to be look at an existing products or services and develop an action planning to
market and sales of the products. Tesla motors can be implement an action plan such as
developing the strategies such as innovation promotion to market its own electric automobiles,
solar energy equipment along with making product of higher efficiency or power. In the single
business strategy, Tesla products such as electric cars, solar equipment etc., can be marketed to
its purpose of increasing productivity, saving cost & time (Androniceanu, A., 2017). This will be
prominent to Tesla to centric their product in way customer can predict about positive benefits of
automotive equips.
Retrenchment: This strategy is basically taken into consideration when companies
performing poorly and finding itself weak in any competitive market. In context of the Tesla,
liquidation and divestment strategy would be appropriate strategy, in which past strategies are
used to be revised or implements new one. Tesla have option to revises their marketing strategy
and identifying the new strategy such as re-implementation of marketing process or defined a
pure motivation to the team leadership in order to do business objectives in an effective period of
time. Liquidation strategy would be used by Tesla, when all of the strategy would be fulfilled in
a defined manner of time.
