Introduction
The success of any organization is linked to various factors within the organization and
without the organization. To this reason, multiple theories have been developed by numerous
scholars such as Henri Fayol. One of the internal factors for organization success is
organizational management, which also includes people management. The content of this paper
is, therefore, a critique of a video presentation by a classmate on effective management and
performance.
Presentation Review:
Management theories and concepts presented and applied in the Video
The content presenter Miss Milena Marques has based her presentation on the founding
theory of the Henry Fayol, which states that for an organization to perform effectively, the
organizational management must be effective and efficient. Therefore, to have an efficient
management system, the system of leadership must be founded on the basic principle for
individual performance (Meuser et al. 2016). To this manner, Miss Milena has discussed various
approaches of management that she, as a manager, can employ to increase performance.
According to the presentation content, there are four primary leadership principles or strategies
that can be used to improve employee performance. These include; team leadership with
responsibility, effectiveness, with ethics as well as with creativity.
Apart from the four leadership qualities, the presenter has also discussed other strategies
or approaches suitable to increase organizational performance. These include; ethical leadership,
ethical practices and finally provision of an ethical working environment. The presented further

discusses how the organization can utilize these people management strategies to achieve
greatness (Hoch, Bommer, Dulebohn & Wu, 2018).
Milena explains in the video content that for an organization to succeed most honestly,
the management and leaders of the organization must ensure that there is ethical leadership.
According, to her, ethical leadership is that which is based on inspiration, motivations moral
values and fair decision making (Lussier & Achua, 2015). Secondly, the presenter explains the
management should be and must involve ethical practices such as recruitment of employees with
high moral contempt, employee training and training as well as working according to work and
organizational policies and ethical codes.
The implication of the identified theories and concepts:
In as much as the video presentation has identified how an organization can create an
ethical environment, the presenter has not shown the relationship between the ethical business
environment and employee performance (Alagaraja & Shuck, 2015). As revealed by Abraham
Maslow, workers' level of motivation is directly proposal to their performance. Therefore
keeping works motivated through proper planning and efficient leadership employees remain
encouraged and motivated, thus increase output. Therefore, the implication of the discussed
approaches by the presenter the organization be increased performance due to employee
satisfaction.
Communication style and effectiveness
Effective communication is an important life skill that a manager should possess. The
video presenter has utilized positive communication skills. The content of the video follows a

consistent flow of ideas (Adler, Rodman & Du Pré, 2016). The presenter has used clear and
straightforward language to understand.

Also, Melina has used concision and clarity as well as open-mindedness to deliver the content.
The communication skills applied in the presentation is, therefore, adequate.
Presentation strength and further consideration
The strength of the video presentation is clarity and consistency employed in the
delivery of management theories and performance. The video presenter has also ensured that she
was loud enough to pass the designed message to the target audience. Concerning adjustments,
the speaker would have also mentioned the effective organizational structure as well as employee
compensation structures or schemes and how they contribute to employee motivation and
performance (Alagaraja & Shuck, 2015).
Conclusion
In conclusion, organizations should adopt various management concepts and change
management to ensure success. The core factor of the success of any organization proper
management of employees. To this note, effective management of people within any
organization is critical as it improves performance as well as profitability. The video presented
for this reason has employed effective communication styles to explain the concern to the
audience. However, the adjustment could be made regarding the contribution of an effective
organization structure and compensation schemes in an organization.
