Strategic Planning in the health care industry deals with a define layout describing all the
actionable steps required by a business to achieve its goals. There are numerous strategy types
and levels. However, the main aim of each and every strategic plan is to align the business
towards its goals and objectives. An effective strategic plan allows a business to develop its
business processes by taking strategic step at every point of business. The health care businesses
need better patient – centric, value centered approaches to conduct their daily operations (Smith,
2017). The health care bodies are recalibrating various health care strategies for adapting the
current market trends. Organizations should know the trending future trends specially the health
care organizations where they deal with numerous business processes as well as the trending
hospitality cure is always changing and developing its methods to cure the patients as quickly as
possible.
Mayo clinic is the largest and initial non – profit health care organization. Mayo Clinic
operates in four various locations in United States. Mayo Clinic uses various strategies to
perform its daily operations (Bryson, 2018). They assess strategic planning by following seven
steps:
Reviewing the Business mission and vision: The managers always plan their business
method by considering the mission and vision of the business. Strategic planning is
conducted after determining the mission and vision of the organization. In this step, the
managers continuously review the mission and vision of the business to prepare an
appropriate strategic plan. Mayo Clinic considers every department’s mission and vision
to support the total business strategy (Cassidy, 2016). The business strategy is developed
by considering the vision and mission of each and every departments of the business.

Operational and Business Analysis: In this step the managers of Mayo clinic determine
every internal and external aspects of their business which include access to the business
resources, market awareness, financial resources and so on.
Select and Develop strategic objectives: The managers apply different model for each
of the strategic moves.
Develop Strategic Objective: Several strategies will be developed on the basis of the
inputs. Then the list of the strategies are sorted on the basis of the business process and
projects.
Strategic Execution Panning: Then from the sorted list, an appropriate strategic plan is
developed by considering the selected strategic options and business process.
Developing Proper Budget to execute the strategic plan: After planning an appropriate
policy or procedure Mayo Clinic prepares an expected budget required to implement the
plan in the business (Kerzner, 2019).
Execution Overview: Continuous review of the strategies is conducted by the managers
of Mayo Clinic. The review helps them to update and modify the business operation on
the basis of the prepared strategy.
Therefore, an effective strategic plan has huge effects in the business of Mayo Clinic. The
can also increase the frequency of development. Mayo Clinic always use strategic plans to
conduct their business operations. Mayo Clinic is benefited in many ways. This allow the
business to achieve the business goals and objectives. Therefore, strategic planning is one of
key driver for the Mayo Clinic.
