Introduction to the Company
Seoul St.Mary’s Hospital is a pioneer medical institute of the Catholic Medical center, with the
largest medical network in Korea with the affiliation of eight hospitals and seven research
centers. (Phillips ,2014)The hospital follows the multidisciplinary approach by its 25 specialized
centers and 48 clinical departments , which helps in bringing the efficient outcome of treatment.
In this paper, we are going to discuss the strategic plan of St Mary's with the limitations of the
plan in the context of SWOT analysis.
Vision and mission statement
The mission statement of St Mary’s Hospital is “ to create and foster the innovation culture, with
compassion and respect at St.Mary’s for many years, and the vision of the Hospital is to “ be the
safest hospital in Korea as the healing ministry of Christ , along with the Catholic Traditions ,
beliefs, and values.

The new strategic vision which will be considered as the improvement plan for the Seoul’s
St .Mary’s Hospital based on the three strategic concepts like opportunities arising from the
deep vertical integration of the domestic market, the prospects in terms of international hospital
management, and the global possibilities related to medical tourism. (Swayne,2014) In terms of
integrated health care network, the hospital is focusing on the development of a domestic
market , with the integrated health care delivery network.in terms of international hospital
management, the hospital is considering a strategy for foreign investments, through which the
concentration will be on the management of hospital assets. (Kash,2014) The hospital is focusing
on the strategic alliance with the St. Mary's Hospital in Canada for the global medical tourism ,
which made the industry , even more attractive.
Limitations and implications of plan
After the complete study of the SWOT analysis of the hospital, the limitation that will find out in
the implication of the strategic plan is the weak competitive position of the hospital in terms of
hospitals that are global competitors and less influence of the country in medical tourism.
(Tao,2016) The hospital is focusing on the alliance with the hospitals of Canada,but the target
segment of these countries want to go for treatment in the First world countries like the USA.

Conclusion
From the above study , the conclusion that we are able to derive in terms of SWOT analysis of
the Seoul St. Mary's Hospital is that the group is facing ample of opportunities, which will help
in the future development of the healthcare sector.By focusing on the strengths and the upcoming
opportunities, the hospital is able to provide the best services in the Korean Health care industry,
by developing the domestic market in terms of better and effective healthcare services.
