21stcentury is an era of competition and people in different parts of the world are
struggling to get a good employment opportunity for themselves. It is for this reason that all the
aspiring job candidates must try their level best to make their CVs in a proper manner so that
they can get the job offers immediately. However, a portfolio is like an extra additional
document that is useful for making the credentials and achievements even more prominent.
As the HR recruiters of different comapanies look for the best employee, it is essential to
ensure that the CV can stand out properly and get noticed by the recruiter quickly. There must be
the description of all prior activities undertaken by the candidate and the different ways in which
the candidate has been able to meet the challenges and overcome the issues. This will also help
the recruiters in getting a clear idea about the candidate and the professionalism that is already
present within him or her. There are many benefits that one might get while making a portfolio
and also attaching it with the resume or the curriculum vitae. Nurse scholars can use this system
because this will help them to show how they have developed a connection with the patients in
some cases of medical emergencies and also enable them to get the issues solved.
However, on the other, the candidate must ensure that there is no falsification being
done. The portfolio must reflect those skills or achievements that are present in the candidate or
the ones that he or she wants to acquire in the due course of their academic and their past
professional life. Creative freedom is one of the most essential aspects that the employees derive
who create a professional portfolio. Bai, Liu, and Wong, (2016) have stated that the chance of
any such creativity is usually not present in the CV (Harrison, 2018). It is for this reason that a
portfolio is one that gives complete freedom to the employees to get themselves visible in the
eyes of the recruiters. This is also very useful as this enables people to know about the creative
ways in which they can increase the number of visitors in their profiles.

Response to Jennifer Whelan
This has been a really helpful post. I have been able to learn about useful strategies for
making a proper portfolio. One of the strategies is to describe the different aspects of the
portfolio while taking an interview (Gehrig, Sögner & Westerkamp, 2018). This will help the
recruiters in positively framing my personality. They will know that I am job ready and will also
be able to face any challenges that are coming in our way (Siew & Hoe, 2016).
Response to Okpenze Ballard
This has been a very useful post because this helped me to understand the benefits of
making a portfolio. A nurse is a community worker and has to pay attention to their personal
development (Hannans & Olivo, 2017). It is for this reason that they must develop a portfolio of
their own. This will help them to get an idea about the progress they are making in their career
and also develop the strategies in which they can upgrade themselves (Gehrig, Sögner &
Westerkamp, 2018).
