Discussion 1: counter-terrorism
Güzel, (2017) says that, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam was established in 1976 by an
individual called Velupillai Prabhakaran. The move behind the formation of this terrorist
organization was to develop their state called Tamil which is found in the eastern and northern
Sri Lanka. The structure of the terrorism of organization was based on a two-tier system. The
first structure comprised of the political components and the second structure was a military
system. From the top rank, Prabhakaran took the lead as the chief. However, the leadership
system of this organization was a pyramidal in reference to Jenks & Fuller, (2016). The reason
why it was pyramidal was in that there existed subgroups and each group had a leader. Apart
from that, there lived a central committee with various center powers to the subsets.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil had various strategies of war. The first strategy was
preparing their military for fighting during the peaceful moments. This strategy aimed to get the
enemy off guard and cause great havoc. The second strategy was that this group combined
politics and the military. In different political seasons, the organization continued to thrive.
Lastly, when it comes to war, the terrorist organization made use of both conventional and the
guerrilla warfare tactics to fight for the state they aimed at in Sri Lanka. Most of the times their
strategies seemed successful because the government failed to counter the group.
The best way to deal with such terrorism organization is to cut the communication ways
for them. It will make them disorganized and unable to achieve what they want. Secondly is to
use the strategy of divide and rule. The government can befriend few members of the
organization and use the information strategies on how to attack them. Lastly, it is important to
seek support from a well-equipped nation to assist in providing training skills to the soldiers and
give strong ammunitions.

Discussion 2: Request for Intelligence
Terrorism activities have created a lot of tension in the world. People cannot move and
freely interacting because they fear their lives according to Briant, (2015). In this post, is going
to be a request for intelligence regarding Al Qaeda terrorist group. As an expert in the
department of security, I would like to know the type of the immunizations the Al Qaeda groups
have equipped themselves with at the moment. The information concerning their ammunitions
will assist the government to provide its soldiers with well-advanced military equipment than
them. Apart from that, I would lie to inquire about the strategies they always make use of when
attacking a nation. For instance, do they send some of their team in the country before the actual
attack or they stage a sudden strike on other nations? What is their weakness as a terrorist
organization? Who is their leader? Where are they based on in the country? On the other
important, it important to identify anybody in the country that may be supplying the country’s
critical information to the attackers. The report aims to assist the law enforcement agencies in
United to prepare themselves and counter the Al Qaeda group before they harm the country. It is
also essential to identify people that are financing the terrorist organization according to Kaplan,
(2017). After gaining such information, the intelligence department should prepare a
comprehensive report on what steps to take, in order to protect the country from terrorist attack.
