INTRODUCTION
This report will describe the policy related to reducing the alcohol harm in the society. Along
with this, the report will also describe the major reasons of choosing this policy. Apart from this,
the relevant theories will also be highlighted in the report.
MAIN BODY
1 Determining the chosen policy along with addressing the problems that has been highlighted in
the policy
The policy that has been chosen is “Strategy to reduce the alcohol harm 2016-2019”. It
has been found from various studies that, recently the alcohol related crime has been increased
on a high note. Within this, the excessive consumption of alcohol is contributing towards the
health issues of the people. The health and social care act suggest that, the effectiveness in the
society can be added only when the health of the people will manage (Burton, R. and Sheron, N.,
2018). According to the licensing act 2003, it has been said that the distribution of alcohol has to
be done after seeing the license of the people (Acts of Parliament, 2017). These legislations show
that, it is important to reduce the consumption of alcohol in the society as it leads to create the
many issues in the health of the people. Here is the complete description of the issues that has
been addressed by the policy.
Alcohol related crimes- The alcohol related crimes in the country has been increased over the
past years. After drinking alcohol the people become more violent and follows the path of
unfairness. As a result, the social ethics of the society is reducing on a fast note. This is one of
the major issue that highlighted by the chosen policy.
Alcohol health harms- The consistently consumption of alcohol is directly impacting the well-
being of the people. It has been found from various research that, drinking of alcohol leads to
reduce the physical activeness of the people. The individual started feeling sick and has no desire
to do anything. This further creates the anxiety in the people if the people become habitual of
this.
2 Agenda setting and policy formulation along with the implementation & evaluation
The agenda setting refers to describing the ability of the chosen policy to the public along with
the importance of the policy. For strategy to reduce the alcohol harm 2016-2019 here is the
complete description of agenda setting that involves the policy formulation, implementation and
evaluation.

The agenda setting and policy formulation involves:
Promoting safe communities- Reducing the level of crimes that are related to the alcohol.
Focusing on the drink and drive aspect as many people drive after drinking alcohol this leads to
the accident. Major focus has to be made over the misuse of alcohol.
Improving the health- In order to ensure the effective health the focus has to be over promoting
the less consumption of the alcohol. The alcohol leads to increase the risk of chronic diseases
and ill health. This is one of the agenda that has been set under the policy that the health of the
public has to be promoted by reducing the consumption of alcohol.
Protecting the children and youngster- The children and youngster are highly moving towards
the wrong path and that is because of less guidance (Spear, 2018). It is important to provide the
guidance to the children and youngsters. The mental issues of the youngsters are taking them
towards adopting the alcohol.
Creating the effective capacity- Discussion with the various stakeholders is the part of agenda
setting as this provides the support towards the development of the “Strategy to reduce the
alcohol harm 2016-2019” The effective workforce will be approach in order to develop the plan
in relation of the policy (Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians, 2021). The major
stakeholders for the policy will be rehabilitation centres, researcher, healthcare workers and
public ans the health and well-being board.
Implementation and evaluation of the strategy
The alcohol strategy group has been approached in order to implement the strategies. All the
strategies that has been made in the agenda will be review and monitor consistently. The research
will make the research and gathers the data in relation of the changes that has been take place.
The partnership has been done with the rehabilitation centres in order to provide the treatment to
the highly impacted people from alcohol. For each strategy the standard time will be decided and
on the basis of that the task has to be completed. The support from the commission group ensures
the treatment improvement.
3 Theories for the Strategy to reduce the alcohol harm 2016-2019
In order to reduce the consumption of the alcohol the theories that has to be use are:
Psychological theory- This theory involves the understanding of the emotional aspects that
drives the humans As stated by Fromm, (2017). There are large number of people that consumes
alcohol just to forget about the issues they are facing in their life. They are approaching the

alcohol in order to reduce their stress. Especially the young people. Therefore, understanding the
emotional aspect leads to create the change in the thought process of the people.
Behavioural theory- This involves interacting with the people for whom the policy has been
made. According to this theory, an effective interaction has to be made with the individuals that
are suffering from the health issues due to the consumption of alcohol As per the views of
Börger and Schewe, (2020). This intervention ensures establishing the understanding and further
helps in taking attention of the people towards the main aspect of the policy.
4 Draft structure

CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that, the Strategy to reduce the alcohol harm 2016-
2019 policy leads to improve the health aspects of the people living in the society. This policy is
ensuring the effective environment in the society.
