STROKE

INTRODUCTION
 The presentation is based on stroke and its consequences to human body.
 Stoke is damage to brain which is cause due to reduced supply of blood due
blockage or leaking of blood vessel.
 The study will identify causes, signs and symptoms and risk factors of
cerebrovascular accident.

STROKE
 Stroke occurs due to interruption in blood supply.
 It is a medical situation where artery that flow oxygenated to brain gets
blocked or bursts.
 Ischemic strokes happen in case when artery which flow blood to brain gets
clogged.
 The most common stroke is Haemorrhagic strokes which occurs when arteries
around brain leaks or bursts

TYPES OF STROKE
 Ischemic stroke: It is a cerebrovascular accident which leads to brain damage
due to interruption in blood supply.
 Transient Ischemic Attack: It occurs due to temporary clot
 Haemorrhagic: It occurs due to rupture blood vessel

CAUSE
 The common cause of Ischemic strokes is hardening and atherosclerosis of
blood vessels and owns same risk factors which arise in coronary artery
disease, peripheral vascular diseases and myocardial infarction.
 It is caused when blood circulation in brain or heart stops. It is the situation
where cells of specific body part start dying because of lack of oxygen and
blood.

 Another serious condition are the causes of stroke are as follows:
 High blood pressure: This hypertension and in case BP of person is 140/90 or
higher than it is important for the individual to take appropriate treatment.
 Tobacco use: Smoking, chewing or second and smoke that is being with person who
smokes.
 Heart diseases: Atrial fibrillation, damaged heart valves and clogged blood vessels.
 Diabetes: Increase body and blood sugar levels.

SIGN AND SYMTOMS
 The reduce flow of blood and oxygen in
brain affects overall body functioning of
human body where person experiences signs
like,
 Numbness and weakness
 Loss in vision
 Pressure on chest (in case of CAD) and
pressure on brain in case of (cerebrovascular
accident)

CONTINUE
 The major symptoms of brain stroke are level of consciousness, problems in
speech, trouble in understanding and speaking.
 The patient also experiences problems in balancing and vertigo.
 The symptoms may be dramatic or mild mimic stroke which leads to
weakness, numbness, facial droop and difficulty in talking and understanding.
 These symptoms last few minutes but are dangerous therefore needs to be
diagnosed on time.

DIAGNOSIS OF STROKE
 Computerized tomography scan of brain
tissue
 Magnetic resonance imaging to get
detailed view of brain tissue which can
or got affected by stroke.
 Carotid ultrasound to get detailed images
of insider arteries in neck of body which
determines blood flow and fatter
deposits.

CONSEQUENCES OF STROKE
 In case of brain stroke, it affects one side of brain that is left, which is situation
where message from brain is not properly travelled to muscles of body.
However, this is the situation which cause weakening of muscles ad paralysis.
 Weak muscles further lead to problem in balancing and movement which can
be threatening of person.
