Introduction
STS Medical Group is an International medical supplies corporation, specialising in
the production and distribution of medical products and custom procedure trays (CPT)
designed and custom-made for surgical theatres (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019). The Group is
owned by private equity company Monitor Clipper Partners based in Boston (USA), Zurich
(Switzerland) and Luxembourg. As one of the biggest European players,
STS Medical has operations in Germany, Italy and Bulgaria operating via legacy entities
Texsan Medical, Salvamed, MSS Medical-Set Service, Sengewald Klinikprodukte, MSP
Schmeiser, and Salvadori (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019).
The major production hub is located in Bulgaria and it is a result of a merger between
two production facilities Texsan and Salvamed (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019). Both
companies were founded more than 20 years ago in the southwest part of Bulgaria
(Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019). Since then both production manufactures expand the product
range from small kits to CPTs, from single use simple product to surgical gowns and drapes
for specific operations (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019).
The second entity is Sengewald Klinikprodukte Gmb Germany.
Sengewald Kilinikprodukte is operating in the supply of gowns and drapes in the
European market and is one of the key players in the German market. Since October 2012 is a
part of the STS family and it is aiming to become one of the important players for CPTs on
the European market. The two main businesses of the company operates are : sales and
production of numerous range of gowns, drapes and accessories with the Secu Drape brand
and sales and production of packs for surgical operations with the Secu Tray brand. Because
of its experience in this field nowadays Sengewald produces approximately 5 million CPTs
and more than 3000 configurations (Weinstein and Pohlman 2015).

STS Medical Group Salvadori is also part of this organisation .It is based in Italy and
is operating in the market of customized medical gauze and surgery kits
(Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019).
In the sales offices and in the manufacturing plants which are situated in 3 countries
the number of the employees working for the group is 900.
STS Medical Group operates in five business areas:
Custom Procedure Tray (CPT): Products combined in one pack with specific
components needed for any special surgery or operation. All subsidiaries assemble more
than 5 million packs every year, in more than 3.000 different arrangements
(Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019).
CPT components: All necessary products, packed in a sterile single kit, according to the
final users’ specific requirements (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019).
Drapes and gowns: For operations and surgical use.
Protective clothing: Protective clothing of polyethylene, single use the purpose is to
serve against minor and major risks in the field of the industrial cleaning, pharmaceutical
industry, chemical industry, oil industry, transportation of hazardous materials, or other
contaminated environment (Olson et al. 2018).
Their distribution network includes the following countries France, Italy, Germany,
United Kingdom, Benelux and other countries in Europe.
The goals of the organisation are to deliver high quality solutions and innovative
processes to make critical procedures in healthcare more effective and efficient

The organisation has become a leading player in surgical theatre solutions through a
persistent focus on customer service, the supply of high quality products, and the
development of superior customer solutions with focus to the customer care

Mission of STS Medical Group
They focus on both the well-being of the patient and the care giver who are the main
functioning body of their business (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019). The patients are provided
with immense care and services in the hospital. Even the patients those who are outside the
hospital are provided with efficient and well trained matrons and nurses
(Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019).
Parts of STS Medical group’s objective are the high quality products, the established
transparency for each medical component in CPT which purpose is to provide the highest
level of clarity in the market (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019). Feedbacks and reviews are taken
by the organisation and they try to improve their value and quality of their products, if
needed. STS Medical Group has been serving a good quality product to the consumers so as

The organisation believes in the initiative and the talent of every worker, manager and
individual that enters the Group (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019). Also believes that the people
are the reason of the success of this organisation. Since this is an International Group all the
employees operate in a global environment.
What else is valued, is the multiculturalism as a competitive factor and as well as the
diversity. That is why this is a Group of many different cultures and languages such as
Bulgarian, German, Italian, Hungarian, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian and Croatian.
STS supports the growth and the progress of each of its employees by striving to provide a
stimulating work environment, with an emphasis of training, development and having the
people in charge of their own careers (Järvinen and Taiminen 2016).
As already mentioned in this report all the product and solutions are meant to be used
during minor medical procedures and surgical interventions in which safety and security are
not an option, but a mandatory feature (Stsmedicalgroup.com, 2019).
That’s why all employees are trained to follow the procedures of the company.
Various trainings take place in the company:
Orientation training: The orientation training is the start for new employees. It is a
usually a one-time event which is a formally welcoming and introducing new people to the
company within their first week on the job. Such training tends to be relevant to all company
roles and departments.
Second one is the on boarding training. It usually starts on the first day of
employment and may carry on throughout the first year as needed. Usually it is prepared by

Job Training is specific and is given to the worker who has to perform that job.
Under this training, the information about the process of production, the safety measures to
be undertaken, methods to be used are explained.
Through this training, the employee develops the confidence and the necessary skills,
which enable him/her to perform his/her, job efficiently and effectively.
The safety training is given to the employees in order to minimize the number of
accidents caused due to the handling of machines or equipment. During this training, the
employees are given the safety instructions on the usage of certain machinery or the other
dangerous tools.
Training is very much important for every company because it polishes the skills and
talents of the employees (Homburg, Jozić and Kuehnl 2017). The employees now become
efficient in a manner that it involves quite essential and vital process in making the
employment more operational. The performance of the employees increases as they are more
able to perform in the job. This is a program which allows strengthening the skills of the
employee which is needed to be improved.
For every new employee hired in the Group an initial training session covering
explicit production requirements (medical devices) is mandatory.

I have selected a role of the purchasing manager of this organisation. The role of the
purchasing manager is to buy the product at a very best quality, and providing goods and
services at the most competitive cost so that it enables the company and to operate
successfully. A purchasing manager could get directly involved in buying of the elements to
make a product that the company is able to sell. The purchasing manager seeks into the
process of marketing and advertising so to promote and increase the goodwill of the company

maintained by the purchasing manager.
As a purchasing manager, one needs to have a very strong analytical ability so as to

final deadlines. So, in order to perform this, the purchasing manager must have the follow ups
of the time and deadlines. The educational qualification of the purchasing manager is that he
or she may have the degree in the fields of business studies, marketing, management,
purchasing and logistics, purchasing and supply, retail management, supply chain
management, engineering and operations management. The company many also recruit
workers who are experienced in these grounds for 1 year or more than that. In an alternative
way, one can study for CIPS qualification so as to become a full member. In case of that you
have to have three years of experience to apply for MCIPS.
According to Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Purchasing is a
key role and is often responsible for up to 70 % of companies' revenue. So in such cases
small reductions in costs can have a huge impact on companies’ profits
The purchasing manager in this organisation heads a team responsible for purchasing
goods and services for company use. The team focus on the tasks to seek the best available
quality for the lowest price. The responsibilities of the manager include managing all these
professionals in the procurement and supply chain area of the business. Part of the duties
include locating suppliers, negotiating prices, preparing purchase orders and requisitions,
studying the market to identify price trends and future availability of materials and goods

and threats. The strength of the STS medical group is that it does well with the advertisement
on television, billboards, banners and hoarding. It mainly focuses on the utility of the
consumer, to say what the consumer wants. Consumer is the vital factor for them in order to
maintain the business platform. STS medical group is a stakeholder oriented company,
because it takes into account every detail of the clients, shareholders and customer. This
enables the investors to invest more and more into this company. This company focuses on
providing security to the employees, this tends to encourage and motivate them. There are
several strengths of this company apart from these; those are varieties of products, high profit
margins, leadership positions, and loyal consumers (Aghazadeh 2015). The Weaknesses of
the company is that it does not take into account the record of the rivalry company they have.
It will lead to engendering risk in near future. The back drop of the company is also that the
selling prices of the product are not so high. The company has a very small scope or limited
in its place of expansion. The STS medical group has its distribution chain and network but in
a very limited order. The opportunities which can be gained by this company is the through
the expansion of the distribution of the network, developing the partnership with the other
businesses and through retain varieties of products to meet the demand of the consumers
(Baker and Saren 2016). Even there are several threats for the company, which is basically
