Miguel is a 14-year-old boy from Munxar He is the 2nd born in a
family of 4, His father, his mother and an older brother. He was
referred by his parents at an early age because of delayed
speech and language development. Birth was reported normal
and patents didn’t repost any delay in his development until
the boy was 18 months, He walked at the age of 14months and
by that time he was babbling a few words here and there.
Patents also reported that the boy went under surgery for fluid
buildup in his ears which was causing him hear impairment
after Easter 2007 to rectify this problem. Subsequent hearing
tests after surgery sowed that hearing returned to normal

Miguel attended Gozo College Rabat Primary from Kindergarten
to year 6. His education the continues at Gozo College Middle
School for years 7 and 8 and now he is in year 9 at Gozo
College Secondary School

sounds. At times Miguel tends to be in his own works Miguel
tends to get frustrated easily especially when he refuses to do
a given task or told that his time on the computer is finished.
Therefore, positive reinforcement is used to control his
inappropriate behavior.

Miguel is a friendly boy and tends to care for others. He prefers
to be on his own rather than in the company of others. During
break time Miguel doesn’t seek to play with his classmates. He
walks along the school ground for several times. A buddy
system has been introduced several times but to no success.

This year Miguel is receiving his education in a special class 3
times a week During the other two days Miguel attends Sannat
Special unit services section. Miguel speaks and understands
both in Maltese and English Language although he prefers to
communicate in the latter
