Need of student union in university
It is very important for each and every university to have student union as it will help in
managing different conflicts and fights. There are various benefits if students participate in
student union. Some of these are explained below –
Leadership - "Leadership lived" is the vow given to students by the University of Illinois
Springfield. In the classroom, the development of leadership knowledge continues, but the
acquisition of leadership skills often takes place in social spaces outside the classroom, as
students bring their knowledge into practise (Lowe, and et.al, 2017). The Student Union,

especially at the Student Leadership Center located within the Union, provides a place for the
practise of these skills.
Increasing belongingness - We must boost retention to improve student achievement. The
Union of Students supports. The Student Union is a natural meeting spot for students, situated at
the middle of the campus and with so many important functions within its walls. Here they will
develop a stronger sense of identity and belonging. For residential students, this feeling of
connection to the campus exists not only, but also for commuters and part-time students.
Developing a wide outlook - There is more about universities than a series of houses. They also
act as analytical awareness, interpersonal creation, and citizenship incubators. Since it offers
such an outstanding atmosphere for dialogue and interaction, the Student Union acts as a
platform for this tremendous development, which is crucial for a good experience in higher
education.
On Campus Find Arrangements - The Student Union features easy shops, a coffee shop,
enticing options for meals, and places where students can play games and catch sports, movies,
live shows and other activities together.
Gather for campus activities before and after - Before and after shows at Auditorium,
exhibitions at the Art Museum, sports activities, or group talks, the Student Union is an elegant
and friendly destination, a perfect stop for friends and peers.
Attending big functions - There is a large ballroom/multipurpose space in the new Student
Union that is suitable for campus and group activities, capable of being split if required for
smaller events (O'Neill, 2016). Also included in the Student Union are meeting halls, conference
rooms, and a pre-event area. The building is in nearly daily use of such lovely rooms.
Share Together studying and job - Campus Union venues host numerous educational support
and learning events exclusively for students: shows, job fairs, technology exhibitions,
programmes for service, and events for recruitment. Many are academic activities, such as the
international symposium on science and arts, where students, undergraduates and alumni
exchange experiments, artwork, theatre productions, and more.
I am volunteer for the student union. I have talked to different fresher students regarding their
problems at university. There were some students who gave information about bullying and
harassing of students in hostels. I think this is a major concern for student union and we should
be taking effective steps for it. Moreover, there are few female students who told me that they

are not satisfied by the kind of treatment they are provided by seniors. As the volunteer of
student union, it is concluded by me that new policies and regulations are developed for students
so that they do not have to face such kind of problems. I think main focus as the volunteer for
student union is to make all employees feel comfortable and safe.
Campus unions have been particularly relevant and this has been correlated in many ways with a
reduction in the relevance of other roles such as more 'activist' initiatives (e.g. lobbying on
national and local issues) and the provision of student facilities (e.g. by consultation and
guidance sessions and/or as part of business activities).
A substantial minority of student union s respondents have expressed some questions about this
new focus. One of the focus groups composed of senior administrators, for instance, commented:
'I think what we are going to articulate is a trend in which the university] is dominated by the
student union.... It has just eroded and eroded and eroded and is being distilled down to this kind
of crucial position of inclusion and so on, leading to all the issues across university (Union,
2018).
The senior executives of student union must focus upon analysing communities and student’s
opinion to fetch proper details. There is need to manage proper policies and regulations for doing
good work for students.
