passion to their profession with the help of university degree. Students also able to develop
interpersonal communication skills through university degree as they get many opportunities to
express themselves. Further, enhancement in skills and knowledge also helps students in getting
a good job(Aponte and Perez, 2016).
Gaining Career Opportunities: The most efficient way of improving once career is
getting a college degree because with these students meet with many powerful personalities such
as CEO and CFO of many well-known companies with which they may have an opportunity of
developing network. Further, for getting a job bachelors need reference and with the college
degree they can get many references. Students also having an opportunity of getting support
from faculty members as they helps them in finding a job.
Financial Benefits: Having a bachelor’s degree with good scores also benefits students
in getting a job with good package and other financial benefits such as insurance benefit,
retirement benefit, bonus and compensation. Thus, this also a reason for getting a degree from
college. Further, according to (Matherly, Al Nahyan and Amin, 2017), more of health insurance
benefits are provided to college students and these students also get many non-monetary benefits
which is also a advantage of a college degree.

Job Satisfaction and retention is also a reason of having a college degree as per a study it
is examined more number of college students are satisfied as compared to students who are not
university graduates.
Academic skills play an essential role in education as with these skills students are able to
gain their knowledge & educational skills which in turn helps them in developing their career
and future. Study Skills also support individuals by developing interest in education so that they
can continue their higher studies. Further, with these skills students can enhance their confidence
level and can grab various opportunities like campus placement
Academic skills can be divided into four basic skills which are very essential for any
student to be able to perform well in a classroom and enable them to be a good learner among
their peers. These academic skills are reading skills, writing skills, mathematics skills and
spelling skills. This skill set cover all core areas which are needed for a learner to excel at their
academics, and if they are lagging behind in any single aspect it become very difficult for them
to compete with others(Palermo and et.al., 2017).
Reading skills – It is considered as very basic yet very important skill for anyone not only
because it helps using understanding what someone is trying to convey but also helps us in
understanding the exact meaning what one is trying to say. This skill helps us in our day to day
routine also as slight misunderstanding in understanding the meaning of a sentence can lead to
lot of trouble for many. This skill set should be improved by constantly reading novels,
newspapers, books etc. and specially by focusing on punctuations in it as skipping one ‘coma’
will change the whole meaning of sentence.
Writing skills – This skill set is the most mischievous skill set as writing is the best way to
influence anyone without doing anything. And if written properly reader will not even be able to
understand the hidden meaning and intent of the content and we can get our work done very
easily. To master it all we need to do is to be alert about our surrounding and nature of the
reader.
Mathematics skill – It is a skill set which if one masters will open many doors into
professional world. Numbers are the easiest and quickest way to represent a set of data in
simplified form which is also easy for others to understand. This skill can help someone in
finding out optimum level of work which need to be done in order to reach goals.

Spelling skills – This skill set is important academic skill as an erroneous spelling will
change the whole meaning of the message or might provoke the reader which no one will ever
want. So it’s always better to refer to dictionary while facing any difficult word and should look
for new spelling once a week to build a strong vocabulary(Bluestein and Kim, 2017).
