To identify and evaluate some main challenges that are experienced by students when
they start university. A study in Academics school.
Introduction
This project is a type of individual essay that is based on the short term and long term
goals and its importance for students within an university (Gormley and et. al., 2018). This essay
is based on two questions which are mainly related with importance of setting short-term and
long-term goals for university students. Along with this , different methods will also used for
remembering new information about the study.

Importance of setting goals, some important short term and long term goals for students
In order to set goals, it is important and essential for students as it help them forward their
overall educational growth and success. Academic goals will also support to provide the
university student an actual image of what they want to accomplish. Along with this, such types
of goals are also essential because they provide the accurate direction and purpose to the
students. There are some significance for setting academic goals for the students such as
increased motivation, improved focus, measurable outputs, increased academic success, higher
quality education experience etc. These are main benefits of setting goals as it will also support
students in improvement of its professional growth and progress easily (Suleman, 2018). Along
with this, there are different reasons academic goal setting is more significance for their success
and educational progress. These reasons are; provides a clear path to success, teaches time
management and preparedness, increase motivation, measures progress, provide focus and
purpose, boosts self-confidence and gives challenges. These are main reasons behind setting an
academic gaols and achieving better outcomes for future progress.
Short-term goals:
1) To make connections with mentors so that coursework can be completed successfully.
2) To ensure submission of all the projects of coursework before deadline.
Long term goals:
1) To participate in class discussion more frequently as it will be beneficial for professional
success and progress.

2) To read more books of coursework in each day and do academic writing over it to obtain
expertise over this skill.
As per the above mentioned short term and long term goals, these are important for the
success and progress of students. These goals support academic students by increasing their
learning and also enhancing their career growth and development.
Methods to retain information for long time
According to the Stenger 2016, there are number of ways that will be used by students for
improving and retaining their knowledge for longer time. Based on the article, there is need of
some methods for retaining information long time. These are use visual aids, participant in group
discussion, read out loud, embrace your mistakes, write by hand etc. are consider main methods.
Some useful and effective methods will be explained as below:
As per the view presented by Listmann 2019, Write out information by hand is consider
one of the main and useful method for student to retain valuable information about their study for
long time. Copying data over and over again can support students to commit it in their brain.
When they write, they will be actively thinking regarding the words. This will helps students by
retaining information for longer time duration.
According to the view point of Haden, 2018, exercise to improve memory recall is also
consider another and effective methods that will be more beneficial for academic students. As it
support them when they require to retain information for longer time duration. Studies in human
brains has shown that daily exercise can enhance memory recall. Proper and regular exercise
also assist students by retaining information regarding the study for long time.
As per the opinion of Wright, 2018, use of visual aids also important and significant for
students. When students engage more of their sense in the process of learning, they will be more
capable to recall what they learn. Along with this, visuals have also been described to convey
faster and enhance entire comprehension or understanding. As students try to follow visual
learning aids such as infographics, instructional videos, photos, charts and maps to improve their
learning. As these will be more effective and essential for the students to enhance their
knowledge and retain them for long time. It turn to support students to improve their professional
progress and enhance success level easily.
Taking notes is also introduces as a main method for students to take notes and remember
information for longer period. Taking notes support academic students by retaining its

knowledge and information regarding the study for long time. For this, student make sure that
each and every information about university learning is in proper heading. As it support them to
keep information or knowledge for long time.
Therefore above mentioned all these are consider useful methods of improving
knowledge and information as well as retaining them for longer period. This helps academic
students in its future development and success.
Conclusion
From the above mentioned information, it has been concluded that setting up long term
and short terms goals helped students in improvement of its professional progress as well as
success also. Number of methods used by students for retaining new information about the study
for long time. These are write by hand, read out loud, participant in group discussions, use visual
aids etc. These are consider main ways that helped and supported students in retaining
information for long time. As it will help them in its academic growth as well as progress.
