INTRODUCTION
Listening is very essential concept within higher studies because it helps in attaining and
completing the assignments very effectively and perfectly. Effective listening is a part of success
of higher studies. This essay report present the challenges that students face in listening due to
which they does not studied properly (Richards and Pilcher, 2020). Further it also involves the
suggestion for teachers to improve the listening ability of students so that students achieve higher
success within their higher studied.

Analysis and Discussion
There are various difficulties that student would face in understanding the lecture,
conversation, talk, conversation (Prepare English language students for academic listening,
2021). Listening is very critical skill because without listening a student cannot gain success
within corporate or personal field. Listening is very crucial because if a student have good
listening skill that he/she is able to interpret in what people saying in various academic
situations. Hence, there are several difficulties that individual would face when they does not
listen the ideas, lecture, conversation properly. It is crucial for students to understand the content
of lecture at the speed it is delivered to them from the lecturer side because it positively
contributes on developing group projects, informal social interactions etc. From the article
various listening challenges are demonstrated below that negatively stroke the individual person
personality within university:
The major challenge under the listening skill is long sentences. Due to which students
does not understand and capture the real meaning of sentences that creates misunderstanding.
Therefore, framing long sentences with the use of lots of items by involving run on sentences
with various clauses that piles with the layers of information. Due to this student face difficulty
with the content of lecture and does not able to record for further use in future.
The another listening challenge is the use of unnecessary words such as use of “So If, If
so etc. In this If within the university, teacher use the unnecessary words while teaching the
students than it impact negatively on the students listening ability (Williams and et. al., 2020). In
this teacher emphasis on clarify the sentences which they frame with unnecessary words so that
learners would effectively understand the summary of content effectively and efficiently.

Another listening language that students of universities would be face is issues occur in
technical terms. Therefore, due to technical issues present within the universities students are
not able to understand, hear, spell, transfer or pronounce the lecture study perfectly and
prominently. Hence, it is one of the major cause in effective listening on which universities
needs to emphasis so that it would be resolved proficiently and effectively.
Another listening challenge that was mentioned within the article false start or
repetitions such as an Honour or Honorary. It represent the unsuccessful attempt to begin with
the career (Owens, 2020). Due to this challenge in listening skill impact the students lightening
negative manner because due to this they also represent themselves with false start. Therefore it
impact negatively on the image of university. Because at the time of listening it is crucial to have
a whole picture within mind with a proper sequence of information and it is only done with the
use an proper start and phrase. It also impact negatively on the student in capturing information
effectively and efficiently.
The fifth challenge of listening that was face under university is mainly based on culture,
due to different culture an individual does not understand the content of lecture (Yeh and et. al.,
2021). It impact negatively on their future terms. For instance- In a university, mainly teachers
adopts the use of British English due to which other culture student does not understand the
pronunciation of British English that impact negatively on the student study skills and in higher
education.
Hence, above the major five challenges of listening that student would face while
listening lectures of teachers. Therefore, it impact negatively on their professional field and also
create a blockage in gaining successful results within higher studies.
Recommendations
Active listening is a part of soft skills that helps in developing the leadership capabilities.
As there are several challenges that students would face while listening that impact negatively on
the success and growth of students (Kumar, 2020). However to overcome with the listening
challenges several strategies are to be suggested to teachers so that they adopts that strategies to
improve the overall listening skills of students so that proper and positive conversation is to be
done. Therefore listening is one of the crucial skill that every individual holds because it helps in
making the effective job, career and the quality of relationship with other person that is more
important. Proper and effective listening helps in record the information for future use so that

successful results are to be attained within higher studies. Recommendation on several strategies
to improve listening by overcoming challenges are presented below:
Minimize distractions By prepare lectures by reading a Pre lecture notes on the specific
topic on which lecture is done is the first and foremost recommendation to teachers as a strategy
to improve the listening skills of students. This helps in avoid distraction while listening and
express students that they are fully engaged within listening lectures of teachers. In this teacher
emphasis on prepare notes and take one time practice as a pre lecture class on a particular topic
so that issue related to false start is to be removed (Kalandarova, 2021). By preparing lectures by
reading pre lecture notes helps in removing unwanted words, false start etc. due to which
students easily understand the crux of lecture that helps in their future context like recording the
notes so that it helps student in future success.
Further it is also recommended for teachers to improve the listening skills of students is
that teachers within classroom create atmosphere for students where they listen the essential and
necessary factual information. To create this environment at classroom within some specific
module, teachers could develops the interactive environment where every students take active
participation so that they listen the facts and figures and represent own viewpoint on specific
topic. This also enhance their thinking and communication skills along with listening skill.
Hence it is useful to sustain in the professional world in future context.
Further it is to be recommended to teachers that they apply a strategy of reprocessing the
information within lecture using notes (Chen, 2020). This helps teachers to recognise the
listening ability of students so that they prepare notes and treacle accordingly. While using this
strategy, student focusing power is developed that is very important to listen the lecture
attentively and answer the questions that teachers asked. By using the reprocessing information
strategy students respondent power is enhanced and to actively present themselves within
reprocessing information students emphasis on asking questions to clarify their doubts that is
very prominent to improve the listening skills of students within a university.
For teachers it is to be recommended that they use the association and evaluation within
the lecture to improve the listening abilities of students. In this strategy teacher within the class
emphasis on take weekly follow-ups of students to understand what knowledge and skills
students are capture from the lecture (López, 2021). Hence it helps in developing the student
ability and attention power so that they properly evaluate the lecture in large number of audience.

By using the evaluation within the lecture teacher develops listening ability of students and for
this they use the technology (Igwe, Lock and Rugara, 2020). However, at this time teacher also
ensures that all projectors are set appropriately as there is no fault in using projectors so that
information is easily delivered to students. This strategy is very crucial to develop and improve
the listening skills of students.
Emphasis on using academic language is the another strategy that is suggested to
teachers for improving the listening skills of students (Schefer-Wenzl and Miladinovic, 2020).
This also helps in removing the use of wrong phrases, long sentences etc. that impact negatively
on student listening power.
Thus, these are several strategies that are recommended for teachers which they must use
while forwarding the lectures to students. Hence, it would develops the students ability to listen
that helps in developing their career and also helps in present high success in their higher studies.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is to be concluded that study skills for higher education is crucial
to gain successful results in professional field. In this listening skill is very crucial because it
helps in understanding what other people deliver. This project report has represent the challenges
within listening skill that student would face due to which objectives of teachers i.e. deliver
thoughts, lectures to students is not fulfilled. Afterwards, it also elucidate various strategies to
help students of university so that their listening skills would be improved and objectives of
delivering lecture is to be positively fulfilled.
