INTRODUCTION
Study skills are defined as the capabilities and competencies that help student to organise as
well as gathering new information, utilise it in higher education. There are various mnemonics
are included in study skills that aids the retention list of information in order to enhance effective
reading, concentrate on techniques and preparing efficient notes as well. As study skills facilitate
the students to interact with others and enhancing career opportunities. In this report various
challenges and problem that are faced by the student in interacting professors and students and
different strategies to enhance listening skills are covered in this report.

Listening skills are defined as the ability of an individual to receive and interpret all
messages in appropriate manner in the communication process as it is considered as the key of
effective communication. In the lake of efficient listening, messages are misunderstood. There
are various listening challenges are faced by the students with interacting friends and teachers
that affect on their overall learning process and experience (Argent, Brown and Kelly, 2020).
Some listening challenges are discussed below:
Technical listening challenge: There are various technical listening challenges are faced
by the students in classes that impacts on their learning process. Some technical errors such as
hemicraniectomy or thrombolysis that affect the listening of student and enables them to
understand speaker properly, hear, pronounce. All critical technical terms are used by the
teachers during lecture that are not understandable by student the problem that impacts on
effective listening process.
Linguistic listening challenge: In the linguistic challenge various factors are included such
as inappropriate delivery of message and speech, unnecessary accent used in speech and special
vocabulary that enables the student understand the proper meaning of message. Some times
teachers use high use high vocabulary and accent in their speech that creates difficulty for
student to understand lecture properly (Gasmi and Bouras, 2018). Complex structure of speech
also the challenge that is faced by the student during the lecture.
Grammatical challenges: Grammatical complexity is the biggest listening challenge that
is faced by the students during their educational lectures. There are various factors that enhance

other educational technologies to display academic concept enhance the overall listening skills

Start giving listening task: Teacher provide regular task to student in order to enhance skills
of active listening. There are task is given to student to discuss on particular topic that help them
to listen actively others. In the given task, student listen other carefully and take active part in
discussion.
Talk less: As teachers spend their lots of time in taking lecturer of students. But only listening of
lecture dose not make any sense for the students because it is not enhancing their understanding
and knowledge about specific topic. So, to enhance the listening skills of student’s teachers
prepare short topic in which student take interest and listening them carefully for short period of
time (Jackson, 2017). Apart from that teachers use various visual effects that attract students
towards learning and pay proper attention as well. In visual lectures student listen teacher’s
speech with interest.
