INTRODUCTION
Listening skills is ability to accurately receive and interpret the message that has been
communicated by other individuals. So without effective listening skills, the message sent is
misunderstood which result in ineffective performance of task. Student must have good listening
skills in order to learn and interpret whatever that has been taught by the teacher in the classroom
for their overall growth and development. This report has included key information pertaining to
three listening challenges, strategies that could be used by teacher to improve listening skills of
student. Moreover, consist of description pertaining to challenges and strategies that I have
experience that helps me in becoming my better listener.
MAIN BODY
1. Three listening challenges that are mention in article
The lecture must have sufficient skills pertaining to the way information need to
be communicate so that student can easily interpret and understand the same in effective manner.
The students were mainly facing issue pertaining to linguistic challenge as the teacher speaks in
different language that is not understood by them. In terms of delivery, academic and specialist
vocabulary and many more, so there are various listening challenges that are face by student in
understanding what has been taught by teacher can be illustrated as follows:
False start and repetition: It has been identified from the above article that the student are
suffering challenges in listening as the teacher is making false start along with using long
sentences and repeating them. Thus, long sentence create problem for student to understanding
and retaining the information for longer time (Kuznetsova and et.al., 2018).
Technical terms: The lecturer makes use of more technical terms that is difficult for student to
learn and interpret the meaning, understand it, pronounce and hear. Likewise it make use of
words such as hemicraniectomy, thrombolysis that are difficult for them even to spell and hear
which create challenge in effective listening.
Complex / convoluted structures and language: The last key challenges that are face by
student in listening the information communicates by teacher is the sentences are more complex
and language use by teacher is somewhat different. For examples: it make use of sentence “ the
very exciting acute treatment which has now emerged over the past ten years as I’ve said with
thrombolysis and hemicraniectomy” that are too complex for student to understand. Therefore

they are unable to understand the meanings of the message convey and get confused (Pagare,
2020).
2. Recommendation of strategies that could be used by teacher to helps student improve
their listening skills
The above analysis helps in understanding that the student faces a lot of challenge
pertaining to listening while the teacher has tried to deliver necessary information that can
enhance their existing knowledge, skills and capabilities. The teacher can contribute a lot in
removing the challenges and improving the listening skills of students through making use of
following techniques such as:
 The first steps that must be undertaken by teacher is to make short and simple
sentences rather than long so that student can learn and retained or effective listen
to whatever that has been taught by teacher. Moreover, it needs to improve its
starting so that student actively listen to whatever that has been taught them in the
classroom (Gheller and et.al, 2020).
 Second recommendation is that teacher need to avoid making use of technical
words or use more simple words so that the student can easily understand and
interpret. It should also emphasis on making use of common language that is
mostly used by student so that they does not face any challenge in its
interpretation.
 Thirdly, it can be suggested that teacher need to avoid Complex / convoluted
structures sentences as it avoid attention of student. They think it is too difficult
and they would not able to understand thus it result in lack of attention. Therefore,
more simple structure with appropriate pronounces, language and verb should be
communicated to students (Chandra, 2020).
3. Reflection pertaining to challenge and strategies that I used to become better listener
From the above experience it can be reflected that I also have face challenge pertaining to
understanding what have been taught by lecture as it make false start and moreover make use of
long sentences. I also face issue pertaining to use of technique words or terms that make difficult
for me in listening and pronouncing the words. So, in order to overcome all the above challenges
that I have face while teacher was teaching, I have plan some of strategies that could be useful

(Reddy, 2020). It also make use of abbreviated words so I face difficult in understand the full
form of them while listening to it. Such as I have make notes of whatever that teacher has taught
in the classroom so that I can retain the information for longer time frame. Furthermore I have
tried to avoid any type of disturbance or talking while the teacher is teaching so that I can easily
learn the same. Moreover it can be stated that i have tried to learn more and more technical
words, the way they are pronounce so that the familiar words I can make use in enhancing my
knowledge. All these strategies has helped me in becoming an effective listener in future
circumstances as I am able to understand the terminologies, complex sentences by paying active
attention to whatever that has been taught by the teacher (Bletscher and Lee, 2020). I also tell to
teacher to repeat the sentence if I am unable to understand the same or not able to listen it. All
these has helped me in completing my task in effective manner and be good listener in class.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that good listener have special capabilities to
effectively listen to whatever that has been taught by the teacher or any individuals. So, it has
been learned that listening is one of the most important skills that helps in effective
communication and exchange of feeling among two or more individuals.
