INTRODUCTION
Study skills are comparable to academic skills in that they help students build abilities
that will aid them in their learning. Students gain study methods in higher education that help
them retain information, deal with assessments, and receive better results on exams. The
development of any skill aids in the development of a person and is only valuable to them in
dealing with any obstacles that the individual may face in the near future (Saeidi and et. al.,
2019). To improve skills, an individual must take a personal strategy in which they must
determine which skills in themselves demand further development and which skills must be
learned throughout their higher education. This report will address the course's seven core
abilities, as well as an explanation of why these skills are important to students, as well as
recommendations.
MAIN BODY
Seven key skills which are taught during this course and how they are important to students
Students must learn specific talents in higher education in order to be successful in the future.
The following are the seven abilities that students will learn during this course:
Communication skill- It is critical for students to be able to successfully interact with
others in order to be able to make efficient and productive communication.
Communication ability is not a skill that develops when a person is born, but rather
develops over time when they form interpersonal relationships with others. Students
benefit from developing effective communication skills since they will gain access to
new knowledge and unique ideas that will aid them in their studies (Punzalan and Marie,
2018). If pupils do not have appropriate communication skills, they will not be able to
solve the problems that they would encounter while learning.
Team working skills- Teamwork is another crucial skill that students should learn
because they will often be required to work in groups for coursework and other group
activities. Students gain coordination and cooperative learning skills in teamwork, which
will be essential when they work in a group (Handley, 2018). The ability to work in a
group allows students to confidently express their ideas and thoughts, which aids in the
development of their personalities. When students work in a group, they speak differently
than when they speak in a classroom.

Creativity skill- Every student should have the ability to be creative since it is the
highest level of learning, aside from the knowledge that the student must develop.
Creativity is linked to the student's new discoveries, which might be in the form of a
project or the development of new information. Students must think in a unique and
different approach in order to improve a talent (Barnes, 2019). This ability cannot be
taught; rather, it develops naturally as they discover new ways to deal with issues they
encounter when engaging in creative activities. Students will receive better grades if they
develop their creativity skill, as this skill will be utilised when completing tasks.
Problem solving skill- This is the most complex and challenging skill development, as it
is not tied to the creation and growth of new learning, but rather to the activities that must
be taken. The work will refer to the steps that must be made in order to resolve difficult
challenges that the student will encounter while pursuing higher education (Mahdi,
Nassar and Almuslamani, 2020). When a pupil develops the ability to address their
problems on their own, they become more self-assured.
Critical thinking skill- Another important skill that kids must master in order to develop
critical thinking is this one. Critical thinking gives pupils the ability to perceive things
clearly and rationally, allowing them to grasp ideas and concepts that they must deal
with. Students need critical thinking skills to develop and advance in their learning since
they won't be able to grow if they don't learn to think critically.
Reading and writing skill- Both reading and writing skills will be vital since they aid
pupils in digesting knowledge and can help them improve their writing abilities. When a
pupil is able to acquire this skill, their originality in writing and reading will be enhanced.
Students in higher education should gain such skills because they make it easier for them
to carry out any of their activities (Cardinale and Johnson, 2017). Students who read
books, articles, or their course book on a regular basis are always adept at offering
suggestions, which improves their problem-solving skills. They also learn new
vocabulary and learn how to compose sentences, which will help them improve their
communication skills. Aside from that, writing skills are crucial for achieving good
results in the classroom and a good university position.
Time management skill- One of the most important and necessary skills that students
must develop is the ability to manage their time well so that they may work effectively

and efficiently. Students will be able to learn and develop more things in less time as a
result of the development of this talent because they will be more focused on the things
that are important and vital to them and will not be distracted by distractions that drive
their minds to focus on other things (Bastos and et. al., 2019). Students that are adept at
managing their time will be able to set clear goals for themselves without being confused
about what they desire. Students who take their studies seriously are more likely to
succeed.
Recommendations
Study skills are vital in higher education because they help students become more
motivated and confident. The development of these talents is critical since it will assist them in
becoming a more improvised individual. They will be able to devise strategies that will aid them
in achieving the objectives they set out for themselves while choosing their field of study. It is a
well-known fact that developing the abilities that are expected of them in their academic lives
makes people more confident and allows them to focus on the things that are more essential to
them rather than wasting time. Students are advised to strengthen their skills during their higher
education because this would enable them to perceive themselves in a different light. This will
boost their focus and commitment to the tasks they must complete, assisting them in attaining
higher marks.
CONCLUSION
According to the above assessment, study skills that are given to students during their
higher school years are highly significant since students get confidence and the realisation that
they can do anything in life. With the rising level of competition, students are honing their
abilities in order to attain success in their lives and a decent position at work. The level of
anxiety that a student may experience as a result of tests and assignments can be reduced with
the development of these skills.
