INTRODUCTION
It is very important to have the understanding of the effective management of oneself and
being a student it is also necessary to have the knowledge and insights of the academic work. A
student must also have the understanding the way and manner by which the academic work
must be managed. This report threw light on the assessment and learning of the main and key
academic skills which are vital to shine in the academics and also for the future career and
profession. There is a strong need and understanding to improve the academic writing
standards and principles and academic principles also (Boud et al., 2013). The student need to
effective manage the academics with their work schedule. For this a student need to focus on
the various aspects like academic skills, reading skills, note taking skills etc. The report will
provide the reflection over the achievement of the learning outcomes of the module. This
report will provide the reflection over the learning and issues faced during the assessment of
the implementation of these kinds of practices to be an effective learner.
For this assignment the selected framework is Kolb’s reflective cycle that will help to provide
the reflection over the module and learning outcomes. This is the learning method that
includes four stages and the most significant is the reflection of observation. The reason to
select this model is due to significance of this model as it reflects internal cognitive procedure
of the learner. It also allows the learning method that involves the different abstract concepts
that can be applied in different types of the situation. This method also allows grasping new
concepts with the help of new experiences. The other framework used in this reports is the
Gibb’s reflective cycle that guides the student with six stages of reflection and which includes
description, evaluation, feeling, analysis and conclusion.

REFLECTION
KOLBS FRAMEWORK
There are following some of the aspects which are included in this model:
Concrete Experience: The first element is the concrete experience that reflects the Kolb’s
learning model. This stage reflects the learning of the student as per their characters and the
experience they have gained. The link to their circumstance and situations has the direct
connection with the inspiration of the students towards their ambition. There are some of the
skills that were taught during the learning session of the module and which were reflected
among the students relating their experience using the personal experience. Each and every
week the learning outcomes were understood as the new situation and link of the academics
with the existing experience. The learning developed through this is automatic and this learning
is developed naturally with the learning modules. The first experience that I have during the
learning module is the Academic writing which is the first and foremost learning outcome was
the academic writing in context to the course taught (Bergsteiner et al., 2010). In the courses of
the academics the academic writing skill is the most important and vital skill needed for the
successful completion of the professional and academics. In the courses studied the exams are
being written in academic writing only and along with it the assignments are also done in the
form of academic writing (Cottrell, 2013). The second one is the note taking skill and which is
gained by the attending the lectures. It is the key skill which is must for the students those
results into the successful completion of the academics. Note taking from the lecturer help to
memorize the things learnt from the classes and which helps me to revise and remember the
key points that can be used in the exams. The other skill that is learned from the learning
module and during my academics is the paraphrasing skill that is the great skill and needed skill
in the professional environment (Smith, 2016). There are key assignments and reports that
need to be prepared during the academics and for completion of same this skill is needed for
same. The other skills that is gained during my academics and through my learning module is
the self-management and which is learnt and gained during my academic tenure. During this

tenure I have developed the self-management skill as I need to manage and arrange many
activities and task at a time during my academic. The other skill that I have developed during
my academic tenure is the team management and experiencing working in a team. During the
academic tenure the students need to develop the skill to work in a team. We get various team
projects, assignments and projects that must be completed in a team. I have faced much
difficulty during my working in a team (Dixon, 2017).
Reflective observation: The next stage in the learning process is the observation of the new
information which includes search, assessment and investigation of the relations. The students
start reflecting on the experience which they had during their academic journey. After starting
the session the student starts to include the different viewpoints and developing new
perspectives and understanding for the given task and assignment. With the help of proper
understanding and knowledge the reflection and observation over the subject is gained.
Reflection is also most important for the aim of the effective learning. The chance of improving
the new understanding on any subject and topic is increased by reflecting about awareness of
someone (Schultz et al., 2016). Thereby the reflective approach at this phase has the upmost
importance to build the academic skills at the start of each learning outcome. In reference to
the task of the course it is also found that reflective learning style was followed by the students
and engaged in the brainstorming activities and was also able to exhibit the team in an effective
manner. The skill learnt during my academics is the note taking skill which includes reflecting
the experience as during my academics I need to take the note from the lecture and it helped
me during my exam. During my lecture when my tutor takes the lecture I used to start to take
the notes and during my study I also try to make the notes from the lectures. The other skill
that I have learned during my academic is the paraphrasing and academic writing skill. I have
learnt this during the lecture and my academic journey and I have also learned the self-
management skill (Passarelli, 2016).

information to their current understanding. The process is undertaken in classroom and it is
being performed in that environment only. The learning modules provide the understanding
about the concepts and ideas of the learning outcomes and it involves the interpretation and
meaning of the new facts. During my academic journey I have also developed the some of the
skills and which are note taking skill. I use to take note during my lecture and I have developed
this skill. Along with this I have also improved my academic writing skill during my academic
journey. The other skill that I have developed was the paraphrasing skill as during the academic
journey I used to prepare the assignments and projects that need to include the paraphrasing
skill. Further the new concepts and models have also developed during my academics (Dixon,
2017).
Active Experimentation
This stage includes the application to test the hypothesis that is created in the previous model
in the practical situations. The new experience that is develops from the learning module that
reflects the hypothesis. It is also not enough to only learn from the experience and knowledge
and correlate them. The aim of true learning is met by the reflecting on the new experiences
and implementing the understanding. I have developed the some of the skills during my lecture
which I have applied in my academics. I have learnt many skills and learning from my previous
classes and that I have applied in y current and future academics (Passarelli, 2016).
GIBBS REFLECTIVE CYCLE
This framework is also used to provide the reflection of my learning and experiences that I had
during my academic journey. It reflects that I have gone through my academics which have
made me to learn some of my concepts that I have applied in my academics. I have learnt many
skills that can be used in future that will help me to meet my aims and objectives. I have felt
that it would be difficult to me to pursue the academics. I was also very nervous during my
academics but I had sorted and solve it with the passage of time. I have done very well in my
academics. The academic journey was very good and it has results me to gain new experience
and learning for my future. I have faced much difficulty during my academic. So it can be said

that the overall journey was very good and I have learnt many things and developed many skills
(Potter, 2015).
CONCLUSION AND FUTURE ACTIONS
It can be concluded that my academic journey was very good. This reflection has provided the
application of the Gibbs reflective cycle and Kolb’s learning model that helped me to reflect my
individual journey and skills that I have learned during my journey. I have done very well in my
academics. The academic journey was very good and it has results me to gain new experience
and learning for my future. I have faced much difficulty during my academic. So it can be said
that the overall journey was very good and I have learnt many things and developed many
skills. The future actions can be taken in reference to learning new skills and I have also
developed the note taking skill, paraphrasing skill, academic skill, and self-management skill. I
have developed the skills and learning that will be used in the future. The skills learnt from this
will be used in future and this would help me to gain the new concepts for future. I would be
success in the future with the application of this models and concepts.
Kolb’s reflective cycle helped me to reflect the journey that I had during my academics. The
learning module course was divided into some weeks where different learning outcomes were
achieved. The start week includes the round that includes motivation, time management and
formulation of strategies etc. I have also manage the academic work that was overloaded and
after it the students were also loaded with taking maximum advantage of the lectures that
included the role of listening, note taking method etc. A self-evaluation of my current
knowledge to the learning results indicated to cover maximum parts in an effective manner. For
the future there is also the scope to improve reflection and delivering good presentations.
Growth and progress is possible only with the continuous practice and applying knowledge in
my academics. Regular revision of the left topic in time also helps to keep other academic skill
in line with needed level of higher study. The reflective writing in the academic is used with the
information and planning.
