Project
AI Summary
This project focuses on the development of the Stylect application, a mobile app designed to assist consumers in selecting appropriate apparel for various occasions. The project begins with an introduction describing the app's service and its benefits to consumers, followed by a competitor analysis that identifies key rivals like Spring and PS Dept, highlighting Stylect's competitive advantage through its fashion mentor feature. The project outlines the app development process, including research, understanding functionalities, and prototyping, alongside the materials and requirements for building the app, such as hiring UX designers and programmers. It also discusses the challenges in building the app, like securing funding and adapting to different screen sizes, and addresses legal requirements, such as confidentiality agreements and trademark registrations. The project includes references to support the findings and recommendations.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Introduction – Description of the service
Stylect is an application that can be used by the consumers to choose appropriate outfit
for different occasions. It is difficult for some consumers to choose the correct apparel for
different occasions, hence they hunt for correct dresses and outfits which is highly tiring and
time consuming for the consumers. Therefore, with the introduction of Stylect applications, the
consumers will be able to choose the correct apparel for themselves suitable for different
occasions. Through Stylect applications, the consumers can shop online and get guidance
regarding the type of products that is suited for their body type and their need to match with
different occasions. Our group would like to introduce a mobile app which will help the
consumers to choose appropriate apparel for different occasions each time. This framework will
enable the target consumers to be leveraged by fashion mentor who can guide the consumers and
provide suitable advice to the consumers.
Competitor analysis
The online Apparel industry is highly competitive in the market. Stylect can face direct
competition with other online fashion apps such as spring, PS dept and ‘Like to know it’. These
applications also offer online shopping experience to the consumers. However, the Stylect app
provides mentor or fashion guide who can provide guidance to advice the consumers to choose
appropriate apparels as per their needs and demands. This is a competitive advantage of Stylect
app. This unique feature of the application might be a competitive advantage to the app. This is
an advantage that Stylect has over these competitors in the market. The fashion app can make the

consumers look right and keep the clothes in a more organized manner (Burton 2015). Stylect
will not clutter the mobile phone and consider the challenges faced by the consumers while they
are shopping. The Stylect app has features such as personal digital organizing assistant, which is
also a competitive advantage and helps to stand out among other competitor’s applications in the
market.
Process involved in making the application
There are various phases involved in the process of developing the mobile phone
applications. The initial stage of developing application is researching. It requires analyzing the
actual demographics, behavior pattern of the consumers and the buyer persona (Zhang et al.
2014). The consumers’ lifecycle and characteristics must be taken into consideration. The next
stage is to understand the future functionalities of the business organization. The back end
system might be feasible technically and access the public data. Prototypes add will be build to
understand the flows of the application (Joorabchi, Mesbah and Kruchten 2013). The prototype
applications will provide first look to the stakeholders and help them to validate the information.
Materials and other requirements for building app
The team will be hiring a user experience (UX) designer architects, who can perform the
coding and design the elements of the applications. They will provide the blueprint of the
application so as to understand the feel and look of the application. The blueprint will provide
visual direction and inform the engineering about the final product. Finally the application will
be developed (Willocx, Vossaert and Naessens 2016). The app will go through testing and bug

fixing to handle the issues. Then finally the app will be released to certain consumers for further
testing. Finally the app will be deployed. The app will go through various updates from time to
time in order to maintain the product. In order to build the app, there is a need to hire a
programmer and UX designer. There is high level of skills and efficiency required to build an
effective application (Zhang et al. 2014). IT knowledge and skills are required. Since it is a new
application, professionals are required for the development of the proposed app. It will require
around $8k to 30k to develop a functional application. The amount requires to build the app
depends highly o the complexity of the applications and the features provided on the app.
Challenges and difficulties in building an App
Gathering sufficient funds for building the application is a challenge. However the team
can connect with financial specialists and gather resources for building the application. There are
other approaches for raising funds such as incorporating angel investors which can be thriving.
Another challenge that can be faced is cross platform applications (Zhang et al. 2014). The
consumers handle the applications from different screen sizes, making the application adaptable
to different screen sizes is a challenge.
Legal requirements
The team needs to comply with confidentiality agreement to protect the application, there
are copyright issues and protect the app IP with various trademark registrations. It must be
ensured that the application is legal.
