This research proposal investigates the significance of recruitment and selection processes in the context of succession planning within organizations. It uses a case study approach focusing on X Company, a leading retail organization. The study aims to evaluate current succession planning practices at X Company, determine the role of recruitment and selection in these practices, and recommend improvements. The methodology employs a descriptive research design with an interpretivist philosophy, utilizing both primary data (questionnaires from 10 X Company managers) and secondary data (books, journals, online resources). The data analysis will be qualitative, identifying key themes. The proposal acknowledges limitations such as time constraints and potential challenges in data collection, and addresses ethical considerations to ensure data privacy and informed consent. The research will contribute to a better understanding of how effective recruitment and selection strategies contribute to successful succession planning and organizational competitiveness.

time and cost will be the two major limitations of this research. Other than this, may be possible
that the managers of company may disagree to provide information. In such situation the aim and

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES
It is one of the most important chapter of a dissertation which includes various tools and
methods adopted by a scholar in order to obtain accurate findings. In addition to this, a
researcher has to be very careful at the time of selecting methodologies (Noble and Bestley,
2011). It covers some of the important sections which are research approach, data analysis, data
collection, sampling research design and research philosophy.
Research design
Research design act is blueprint which helps a scholar to collect appropriate information
regarding the topic of the study (Takhar-Lail and Ghorbani, 2015). Some of the common designs
includes exploratory, descriptive, case study, experimental etc. In the present study descriptive
research design will be selected and the reason behind this is that the study aims at determining
the role of recruitment and selection in the succession planning. Therefore, descriptive design
will help in describing the elements of study and accomplish its aim.
Research philosophy
Research philosophy is the belief of a scholar which helps in collecting and evaluating
the information for the topic of study (Amelina, 2012). Further some of the common
philosophies used in any kind of study are interpretivism and positivism. In the present study
interpretivism philosophy will be used. The reason behind selecting this is that the research will
be qualitative in nature and thus interpretivism will be more suitable philosophy.
Data collection
It can be defined as thew process of gathering information regarding the topic of the
study. Further primary and secondary are the sources which are used in order to gather data.
Primary data is termed as fresh information which has been collected for the first time whereas
secondary sources posses those information which is already collected by someone else. In the
present research both primary and secondary sources of information will be used. Further the
primary data will be collected from 10 managers of X company with the help of questionnaire.

On the other hand, online sources, books and journal will be the key sources from where
secondary data will be collected.
Data analysis
It is the process in which the information collected is evaluated and analyzed. It can be
stated that it is very important part of any kind of research and one needs to be very careful at the
time of analyzing the data. In the present study the information will be present bin non-numeric
form and thus Qualitative method of data analysis will be used. In addition to this, various
themes will be developed to get the accurate and desired findings.
Research approach
It is a section of research will helps a researcher to collect and analyze information to
achieve the aim and objectives of a study. In the present study inductive approach will be used as
the information and findings will move from general to specific. Such kind of approach will also
assist in getting the most accurate and reliable information according to the topic of study. Thus,
it can be stated that inductive will be more suitable and appropriate approach as per the nature of
this research.
Sampling
Sampling is termed as the process in which a suitable sample is collected from large
population to gather information about the topic of study. In the present study purposive
sampling method will be used which is a part of non probability sampling technique. The sample
here will be managers of X company and the sample size will be ten.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
Every scholar is required to take care and considered various kind of ethical aspects at the
time of carrying out a study. One of the main advantage of this is that it supports in enhancing
the overall validity of research. In the present study, all the aspects will be taken into account and
the entire study will be completed in a ethical manner. The information collected from various
sources will be secured in the best possible manner. In addition to this, the data wont be reveal to
any other party and its privacy will be taken care of. In the present research, the data will be
collected from the managers of X company and therefore proper permission will be taken from
the respondents before approaching them. The scholar will also destroy the information after
