INTRODUCTION
Include the following from Week 1 – This section is NOT written in bullets in your document
In this new era of technology one of the most essential factors or aspects that is being
widely using by the managers and assigned team members for successful
accomplishment of project is Information and communication technology. The
organization that has been nominated for this project management planning report is
Sunny Delight beverage, owned by Harvest Hill Beverages Company. The company has
any outlets but except physical store till date the company does not offer online products
to their consumers.
The chosen organization is an existing one due to its unique quality and tasty food
products services throughout United States.
After analyzing many organizations and their business case details it has been determined
that mist of the companies have these days started using online services but till date
Sunny Delight beverage does not offer online services to their consumers. Not only this,
but also, due to some operational and functional error, the economic and commercial
revenue structure of the company is getting compromised. It is identified that, for their
quality and affordable food products these days the numbers of Sunny Delight beverage
are also increasing. The companies still use manual data management system where
errors are occurring in a large rate. In order to resolve this error, the company has
recently appointed a project manager including system designer, developers, and tester as
well for scheming and developing an Information System (IS).
It is assumed that, if IS implementation project is successfully implemented then
potential risks will be resolved completely and data management will become easier. It
will also reduce the issues of extreme cost consumptions.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT APPROACH AND PHASES
Project implementation and managing project are interrelated to each other. In other words in
order to identify any project as a successful one throughout the project development life cycle
period these should be managed appropriately. In order to implement the Information System for
Sunny Delight beverage the project management approach that would be followed by project
lead is waterfall or traditional project management approach. Not only project development
approaches. Besides this, certain appropriate project management tools and techniques are also
should be managed and applied accurately throughout the project development life cycle. For
implementing the Information System project, the project expansion lifecycle phase that are to be
followed by the project leads, team members and other stakeholders are as follows:
Project initiation: This is the initiation phase of project development where the scope statement
is developed and respectively objectives, goals and aims are also identified and distributed
among the assigned team members.
2
Document Page
Project Management Plan Template
www.ProjectManagementDocs.com
Project planning: In this phase the stakeholder management and engagement plan is developed
and resources are also assigned to project work breakdown activities. Before executing the
project, risk management, communication management, and quality, cost as well as time
management plans are developed in this phase
Project designing and implementation: It is the third phase of project implementation and in
this phase a prototype of the Information System is developed by the assigned team associates
followed by specified software hardware, network support and license as well.
Project testing phase: Testing phase is referred to as one of the mist essential phase that is used
by the project team before final launch of the project. The designed and developed project needs
to be tested followed by unit testing and user acceptance testing.
Project closure: The project closure accomplishes with stakeholder signoff, change management
plan implementation and final project draft submission.
PROJECT SCOPE AND REQUIREMENTS
Before beginning of the project, the project lead and assigned team members should consider
scope statement as well as project objectives in this stage. The scope of the project requires to be
completed within assigned budget and time for avoiding operational issues of overrunning
budget and over allocation of time. In order to successfully implementing the Information
System development project for Sunny Delight beverage both physical and human needs will be
required. The scope of the project is to consider the project scope statement first and the
accordingly followed each phases to reach the primary project goal and objectives. It has been
expected that if the project scope management plan is successfully implemented then the project
would help to maintain the triple project constraints-time, budget and scope.
In order to implement the both practical and non-functional needs are essential. The non
functional requirements essential for implementation of information system for Sunny Delight
beverage are scalability, reliability, serviceability, availability, capacity, maintainability and
recoverability. On the other hand, the functional requirements for the project are hardware,
software and network support considering business rules, authentication, authorization, audit
tracking, external interface analysis etc.
