LITERATURE REVIEW
THEME 1: Evaluating the current challenges of Operation Management
According to Annarelli and Nonino, (2016) stated that the current challenges which are
faced by the management operation is related to communication gap between the employees and
senior person in the organisation. As seniors due to their designation avoids communicating with
the juniors and didn't involve in their decision making. This results in lacking the challenges
faces by the organisation with their competitors. As due to having no interaction is made
between the employees, it affects the productivity of the company and also the management
system is affected with this procedure. So to increase the goodwill of the company they have to
communicate with both the internal and external stakeholder of the company so that their
business reaches to the next level and they can expand their operation in the emerging market.
Gerasimov and Gerasimov, (2015) criticise that more communication results in more
confusion which affects the working of the organisation. As to communicate with more people
influence with different ideas which is difficult to gather and implement them in the business. As
many stakeholders provide ideas for their benefits which if concern can raise risk in the
management team which they have to face. Sometimes it is the management own decision to
whom they have to communicate and what decision they have to be implemented in their
working operations.
As per Roy and et.al., (2016) suggested that design and new technologies are the major
aspect which the management operation had to faces in the changing times. As to interact with
more people they have to bring new technologies which attract the customer. Business of the
company is raised by fulfilling the needs and demands of the customers. Due to changes in taste,
the company also had to implement new strategies in their operation team to adapt such changes
which raise more profits to the company. Thus designing the system means designing new ideas,
planning in into their products and services and managing the system which is to be upgraded
from time to time for better use.

Stark, (2015) argued that new technologies demand new people to learn such
technologies and due to changes in time if continuous upgrade of technologies are there, it results
in more breach of cases regarding to the data of the company. As technologies covered with
many data and relevant information which is the success story of the company and the
management had to secure and protect the data from the hackers. But due to continuous up

management team.
Järvenpää, Kopra and Lanz, (2016) examined that current challenges which the
operational management is facing is relating to globalisation, as globalisation had a big impact
on the working of business and their operational management to achieve targets in the company.
As they face competition relating to social, economics and political factors which affect their
resource and also their strategies to enter into the market. They have to use various creative skills
and innovative ideas to face the competitors and strong their brand position in the market.
Theme:2 significance of the supply chain functions of the operation management.
According to Christopher ( 2016), Supply chain management is the management of the
flow of goods and services which involves the movement and storage of the raw materials , work
in progress inventory, and of the finished goods from the point of the origin to point of
consumption where goods were consumed. Marketing channels plays important role in the
supply chain management.
Basically the main role of the supply chain management involves the management of the
wide variety of components and processes which include the storage of raw materials, managing
the inventory, movement of the finished goods from the point of manufacturing to the point of
the consumption. Supply chain management is also defied as the designing, planning, execution,
control and monitoring the supply chan activities with the objective of creation of value and
building a competitive infrastructure and also matching the demand by effective supply.
Hugos (2018) argued that This is the cross functional approach which includes managing
the movement of raw materials into the organisations and certain aspects of internal process of
raw materials into the finished goods and also the movement of the finished goods out of the
organisations and towards the end consumers. Organisations focuses on striving on core
competencies and become more flexible. They reducing the ownership of the raw materials

management is to improve the rust and collaborations among the supply chain partners and thus
helps in improving the inventory visibility and velocity of the inventory movement.
Mangan, Lalwani and Lalwani (2016) stated that it is the effective and efficient
management leads the organization in managing the quality standards also in addition to match
the demand by supplying the finished products at the place of consumption. There are some
quality management techniques which help the organisations to manage its supply chain function
more effectively and they are :
Just in time : It is the management strategy which aligns the raw materials orders for
suppliers directly with the production schedules . This system contrasts with just in case
strategies where the producers hold sufficient inventories in order to have enough products to
absorb or fulfil the market demand.
Total quality management: it is the structures approach to the overall organisations
management. The focus of this technique is to improve the quality of the goods produced
through continual improvement of the internal practices which includes effective planning,
executional and regular control on the operational activities. In this method all the members of
the organisations take parts actively and efficiently in improving the process, products, service
and culture in which they re working.
Six sigma: It is the set of the techniques and tools for process and operational
improvement using its methodology. The purpose of the six sigma is to measure and eliminate
the defects in manufacturing and development process in order to achieve the desired results. It is
the simply process to solve and eliminate the problem. It generally consist of the five basic
phases which are : Defining the problem, measuring, analysing, improving and controlling so
that desired goals and results can be achieved.
Lean principle: There are 5 principals of the lean thinking which are builds on each

the supply chain of the organisations and some factors are explained below which includes:
Environmental uncertainty-

customers, suppliers, competitors and technology which directly affect the entire cycle to the
supply chain management environmental uncertainty is considered to be the important factor in
realisation of the strategic supply management plans. organisation needs to identify and analyse
these changes effectively so that corrective plans and actions can be measured.
Government support-
The level of the support the company is receiving from the government at the time of the
importing the raw materials or products from overseas. It includes the use of the norms, rules,
regulations, policies and advice for the sectors. This also includes that how government is
encouraging exports by increasing the manufacturing sectors competitiveness in the international
market by logistic competency. This increase in international trade for acquiring resources
which includes complicated matters such as language barriers, transportation costs, exchange
rates, tariffs etc. These support have direct impact on the organisation supply chain.
Technological factor-

unnecessary activities. With the help of effective use of the technology flow of information can
be done in coordinated manner which ultimately contributing in accessing the information,

Theme 4: Recommendation for effective supply chain management”
As per the views of Su, (2016), in order to improve the supply chain management in the
business organisation, its managers should first analyse the overall condition of the market and
the business organisation. It needs to determine the gap in the firm so as to achieve the set goals
of effective supply chain management. Managers would be able to develop effective strategies
and plans for the company so as enhance the effectiveness in the supply chain management.
Although, it may enhance the cost and functioning of the managers.
Moreover, as per Mensah, Merkuryev and Longo (2015), frauds, misrepresentation,
mistakes in the books and records can harm the supply chain management process. In this regard,
managers of a business organisation should first develop their plans and strategies for enhancing
the transparency in the overall business system of the company. It would help them in improving
their managerial functions through which they would be able to effectively improve the supply
chain management of the company. In other context, it will make the company to improve the
