1. Introduction to the Dissertation Topic
Supply chain management can be stated as the management of flow of products and services
and involves all the processes which are needed to transform inputs into outputs. it includes
active streamlining of supply side activities of business in order to maximize the value of
customer and game rivalry advantage in market. Supply chain management represents an effort
through suppliers to develop and execute supply chains which are efficient as well as economical
as possible. In this dissertation proposal, the chosen organisation is Radiometer Medical which is
a Danish multinational company that develops, manufactures as well as market solutions for
blood gas analysis, immunoassay testing, blood sampling, transcutaneous monitoring and the
related information technology management systems. The company was established in year 1935
and is headquartered in Denmark. It offers its products and services worldwide and has around
3200 employees who are working towards accomplishment of organisational goals. This research
proposal is based on the topic “Ways of improving supply chain management and its impact on
business performance” and aims to ascertain various ways to enhance supply chain management
and its influence on performance of business.

Proposed Research Methodology
Research methodologies are the specific procedures that are utilised to identify, process as
well as analyse data regarding a topic. It enables the reader to evaluate the validity and reliability
of study and perform it in systematic manner. The choice of methodology made by researcher is
based on the nature of topic and the distinction between qualitative and quantitative data. The
proposed research methodology based on this research is quantitative methodology. The different
methods of research are provided below which will utilise by the researcher to perform the
investigation systematically.
Research Philosophy
Positivism and interpretivism are the two types of research philosophies which mainly
utilised by investigators while performing a study. Positivism philosophy adheres to the view
that observation is the way to gain factual knowledge. Whereas interpretivism philosophy
involves interpretation of elements of study and integrates human interest. This study will use
positivism research philosophy as it relies on quantifiable observations and aims to explain and
predict the data.

Research Approach
Deductive and inductive research approach are the two approaches which are utilised in
research mainly by the researchers. The inductive approach is based on developing the theory
and the deductive approach is based on testing the pre-existing theory. In this particular research
investigation, researcher will make use of deductive research approach it is based on reasoning
the other way around by initiating with theory, developing hypothesis and testing it by collecting
and analysing data.
Research Design
The two types of research design include qualitative and quantitative research design. In
qualitative research design, researcher will gather no numerical information or data on the
particular topic. Whereas, in quantitative research choice, researcher will gather numerical
information or data to draw outcomes of research. This research will use quantitative research
design in which numerical information will be gather by researcher on the topic related to the
research.
Research Strategy
Different strategies of research involve a quantitative survey, interview, case study
research, systematic literature review, experimental research etc. This particular study will use
quantitative survey method for collecting the data. In this, questionnaire tool will be use which
consist of some questions to answer. By using the questionnaire, researcher will gather
information on the topic.
Data Collection Method
Data can be collected by using two methods involving primary and secondary data
collection method. In primary data collection method, researcher will collect information which
is fresh and new. On the other hand, in secondary data collection method, researcher will gather
information which is already existing online or in previously published records. This research
will use both the types of data collection method, i.e., primary and secondary data collection
method. By making use of both the methods, researcher will be able to gather adequate amount
of information.

Sampling
Sampling is the way to collect sample size from large population. Sampling can be done in
two ways by using probability sampling method or non-probability sampling method. In this
research, researcher will use probability sampling method in which the chances of being selected
of each individual are equal. Simple random sampling method will have used by the researcher
in this particular study as this will help in eliminating biasness and drawing valid outcomes of
study.
Ethical Considerations
There are some ethical considerations which researcher should consider while performing
research. Maintaining privacy and confidentiality of data is one of the ethical consideration
which must be consider. By ensuring that data will not be shared to third party, privacy and
confidentiality can be maintained. Apart from this, taking informed consent from the participant
prior to involve them in the research is also necessary.
