University of New Haven Masters Program Statement of Purpose

This document is a Statement of Purpose for a Masters program in Supply Chain Management. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I am writing this statement to apply for my second masters in Supply Chain Management
program. I am very much interested in the topics covered in this course especially under
operations and project management. My interest in these fields was first stimulated during my
Masters degree in Engineering and Operation Management in University of New Haven where I
studied Engineering Project & Operation management courses. Your program not only covers
the aforementioned areas but shall also introduce me to the new topics studied specifically in
Supply Chain Management which will widen my understanding and knowledge of the topic as a
whole. I managed to attain an overall 127.0 points and a GPA of 3.85 and I am keen to build on
my interest and perform even better in my new course. I am expecting to score a First Class
Honors degree which will certainly prove my academic capacity to study at this level.
My work placements in several organizations such as Gulf Wireless & Television Co. LLC, and
Aerizo, Dubai reinforced my interest in the fields of Project & Operations Management and I
was able to apply what I leant in class in real life situation. My primary roles in these work
settings included Analyzing, Designing and Reviewing of Business and Software Requirement
Specifications and using UML for Business Process Modeling, Using Case diagrams, Activity
diagrams, Sequence diagrams, Flowcharts, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and documenting
them using MS Visio. What is more, I generated reports using tools such as SQL Server
Reporting Services and Excel which were received well by these organizations. This work
experience aided me to develop both technical and soft skills such as a great mastery of The
Structured Query Language (SQL) and The Structured Query Language (SQL) which are
powerful base and procedure that amalgamate the functionality of DATA and PROC steps into
one step. Soft skills which this experience enabled me to enhance include strong work ethic,
good communication skills, problem-solving aptitudes, self-confidence, and the ability to accept
and learn from criticism.
My main motivation to choose to study in your institution is the reputation of excellence your
university has in these fields. The global status and position of your institution attracts such a
broad variety of scholars and I hope it will be a stimulating and conducive environment in which
I can pursue my second masters in Supply Chain Management. This university offers a wide
array of courses not only my targeted one, and with no doubt it is well known for its commitment
in providing incomparable learning facilities for all and sundry. As a focused student, all through
my academic life I have striven harder to attain well-defined career objective and enhance my
level of knowledge towards technology, proficiency, and curiosity and I believe with a Masters
degree in Supply Chain Management will make a significant step to span the gap between where
I am today and where I want to be.
