chain in business. Marketing channels and supply chains are vital component in
business. In order to have a successful business, it is important that the marketing
channel and supply chain has been given appropriate thoughts as they play crucial role.
In this paper, a discussion will be held on the role of marketing channel and supply
chain in business.
Marketing channels are the channels that are used in business in order to reach the end
customers. A marketing channel can be defined as the set of people, organizations and
activities that lay vital role in transferring a good’s ownership from the production to the
consumption. They play the main role of mediator between two parties where the good
is being exchanged. Marketing channel is also known as the distribution channel. A
distribution channel is a chain of business by which a service or good passes until the
product or service is reached to the end customer. There are four types of marketing
channels in business:
1. Manufacture to consumer
2. Manufacture to retailer to consumer
3. Manufacture to wholesaler to consumer
4. Manufacturer to agent to Wholesaler to retailer to consumer
A supply chain is the network that involves all the organization, individuals, resources,
technology and activities in creation and sale of a product from the point of delivery to
the end user. In a supply chain segment, the process that is about getting the finished
product from the manufacture to the consumer is called the distribution channel. It is not
a task of single person to manage and maintain the business. There is a need for a
well-managed team to run a business efficiently. It is the manager of a company who
pays the major role maintaining the supply chain of the company. The role played by the
supply chain management is to ensure that the demand of the customers is met with the
supply of the products. It is important to understand that any surplus products that are
created re waste and anything insufficient will result in brand image damage. Therefore,
the supply chain management makes sure that the companies never produce
insufficient or extra products. In commerce or business to achieve the business goal it is
significant to invest in efficient and improved supply chain management. An efficient
supply chain performs 5 important roles:
1. Increasing customer service,
2. Reduce production cost
3. Improve quality of products
4. Improve financial position
5. Development of best marketing strategies

Both supply chain and marketing channels are important for business. Similar to
finance, marketing operation, supply chain and marketing channels have vital roles
