disorder is provided by various medical and social support by the government and the society.. In
previous time the individual who is suffering from disability are considered as a devil and
boycotted from the society. But as the time changes the vision towards such people is also
getting changed and government played an important role in all this change because various
government programs, campaigns and advertisements helped the people to understand the
reason and difficulties of the victim(Cohen and Wills, 1985). The disability can be divided into
various categories such as mental disability, physical disability and learning disability. Under the
concept of equality the every people should be provided with the good health and medical
services. In order to provide health services Bupa health care is playing an important role or the
betterment of the society.

2.1 Different care needs for an individuals with specific needs.
The needs may very from individual to individual because every person have different
requirement therefore n two person have completely same requirement. Therefore in that case the
way to handle the needs also get changed as according to the scenario Anis is a 60 years old man
who had three brain surgeries and now suffering from left side body paralysis. Due to this he is
completely dependent on his wife Nilam and daughter Nafis. As his body is paralysed he need
some for continuous caring due to this his wife is isolated form the society (Green, L.W.,
Kreuter, Deeds, Partridge and Bartlett, 1980). Due to paralysis Anis is physically dependent the
on someone because he is not able to do anything. There may be different types of needs that
may very person to person and also very between children and adult. In that case the needs will
be occurred are known as specific needs that has to be taken care sincerely. Under the specific
needs the needs can be of two types it can be of physical needs and it can be of mental needs. In
paralysis the body of the person is not able to do any thing in that case the individual is
completely dependent on other person for every general and specific needs.

Where in care of mental needs, individual who is suffering from paralysis is going through a
continuous mental pressure due to which he and she may get depression because they are not
able to fulfil their basic needs by own.
2.2 Current system for supporting victim and their family.
There are various supporting system are available into the society that are playing an
important role into the society by providing continuous services for the welfare of the society.
Some of them are profitable some are non-profitable and some are government undertaken
groups but all of them have the same objective (Andreasen, 1995). They are working into the
society by providing advices and guidances to the people through various educational programs
in various local and regional languages so that people can understand it more easily and
effectively and any miscommunication does not occur. Another form is through various
supporting groups that are actively supporting the weak and poor people who are not able to get
proper support. So for such group into the society many supporting group is existing. Various
counselling groups are also available that helps the people by providing proper counselling so
that people can handle the problem effectively (Meyer, 2003). Various personal development
programs are also organized by the supporting grouping in which the person of that team provide
training to the other people so that people can further exchange this with other people in this way
the large group of people will get the help (Taylor and Brown, 1988). And the last method is
through special educational programs under which people are provided by various lessons are
discussed with them. And a proper practice session is also organized. Bupa health care is also
working with the same objective.
2.3 Evaluation of the services offered to victim by the locality.
In order to provide services to the victim the locality should always consider certain
factors that are very important for any service that are objects or the equipments that are used in
the treatment process, all the services that are provided to the individual should be hygienic and
should not cause any adverse effect on the person. Another issue is availability of the staff
because emergency may occur any time therefore to handle such consequences the availability of
the staff is necessary. Proper transportation services should be provided to the victim so that the
can easily access the services and easily solve the issues that are affecting him (Umberson,
1987). Therefore services that are offered to the victims should be able to fulfil all the specific

needs. All the services that are provided to an individual should be enriched with equipments and
services such as food, transport and efficient staff.
TASK 3
3.1: Approaches and interventions to support individuals with specific needs
Intervention is considered as process or action that is use for improving a situation or
getting involve in it. Here in the present report intervention is refer to taking an action in order
top improving a medical disorder and associated elements. Approaches here are the primary
steps which will strengthen the intervention process. There are various approaches available to
support the people with specific needs. The evidence based practise in which individuals who
have severe health problem receives the services as per the evidence of diseases. The other
approaches which are mostly use for the care of individuals are integrates scientific evidence,
clinical knowledge, view-point of the client((Aronson and et.al, 2016)). The self help approach is
also considered as a good practise to specific needs in health and social care services in which
the individuals with specific needs are support and care themselves. The advocacy approach is
also a prudent technique for the given scenario in the the health care provider will support the
rights of the individual and work in the proper and systematically manner complying with the
legal rules and legislation. Advocacy approach is consist with changing practises and behaviours
that helpful in the development and provide support to the rights of the disabled person(Queen,
2016).
ON the other hand there are various intervention tools and techniques also use in the
health and social care sector for the welfare of individuals with specific needs. Ample of medical
therapies are being used for the sake of providing support and care to these vulnerable people.
By providing medical support to the needed individuals the assessment process of treatment is
basically depends on the prevailing the problems and needs at the exact moment. Difficulty in
learning for the older people is a big challenge for the social and health care organization and in
order to make it right the psychological intervention can be an excellent technique in tackling the
older people at the time of they start feeling depressed and stressed because of their difficulty in
learning. Bupa health and social care organization is also using various interventions in order to
provide care to older people with special need Such as communication is a basic intervention

tool use by them to establish a relationship between older people and care provider which is
helpful in providing and assessing supportive services(Kauffman, 2015).
3.2: Evaluation of the effectiveness of intervention strategies
Various strategies are being used in the order of providing special care and support to the
older people who are facing difficulty in learning anything. As all the approaches and
interventions discussed earlier are using for curing and provide support to the older people.
Medical interventions are helpful in providing a support to the older people in learning as there
are various technological innovation taking place in the medical sector where gadgets and tools
can be use for increasing the ability of learning. BUPA is providing the psychological care to the
older people to learn and remember things and even they are trying to reduce the level of
depression and stress which older people are facing by encouraging them and cherish them. The
psychological strategy is more effective as it is provide a clear understanding to the older people,
as this strategy is not only use by the care provider it can be use by the family member also. The
other strategy which use by the BUPA for the welfare of older people is communication
strategies, regular and healthy communication between the care provider and older people is
effective as the older people are not feel lonely and depressed at the time of the treatment and
they will easily get influence by the care provider(FernáNdez-LóPez and et.al, 2013).
There are various other strategies are also use for supporting the family and the patient
with learning disability by involving the family in the process of developing and delivering the
care, support and intervention plan for older people. Provide them information about the support
and intervention strategies in a structure, format and language that is easy to understand for
them. There are various other areas also which a care provider need to understand at the time
providing the support services to older people with learning disability such as determining the
impact of living with and caring for the older people with learning disability, Explain them or
family members about the how to access the family advocacy.
3.3: The potential impact of emerging developments in support for individual with specific needs
The social and health care sector is encountered with various developments in the area of
giving support to the people with specific needs. The technology advancement make the
supporting task more easier for the care provider to safeguarding the old people with learning
disability. Assistive technology is very useful in enhancing learning ability for those who are
unable to learn. In the assistive technology for the older people there are various tools being used
6

such as abbreviation expanders, alternative keyboards, optical character recognition,
proofreading programmes and so on. Other than the technological and medical advancement
there are some development in the legislation and in the policies is also fostering the
developments in support for the older people with the learning disability. Older people with
learning disabilities and disorder can learn new strategies for coping with their problem. Usually
the care provider helps old people to learn skills by developing the strength and other ways to
compensate for the aged people weaknesses and try to keep them away from the feeling such as
depression, anxiety and so on(Davis and et.al, 2014).
Apart from all these legal development also have a huge impact on the area of problem.
As the legal structure is build in a way where old people with learning disability will get the
services for the safeguarding themselves with the adverse situations. BUPA health and social
care organization is also conducting various development programmes for the old people with
learning disability where they will get advance services by the experts in the problem area. Old
people with the learning disability may suffer from the low self-esteem, trauma, frustration,
anxiety and various other problems here the professional care provider can help them to
understand these feeling and emotions, develop coping tools and build healthy relationship.
Sometimes old people with learning disability have severe conditions in these case they require
to help the medical therapy and medication(Van der Bij and et.al, 2016).
