Answer to A:
Every language is comprised of certain basic principle that is not only intrinsically linked
but is also different. Some of these principles include reading, writing and speaking. These
principles must be mastered in order to attain fluency in the language while maintaining unique
traits. It has often been noticed that people has been good at one principle while poor at the other.
Reading represents the first discipline that a student of a language comes in contact with1.
Viewing the words on paper often represents the first place where people are able to knowingly
view the language. It is this discipline where the learners will be able to see how a language is
portrayed, sentences formed and words placed together in making sense. In other words, reading
refers to the understanding of the written word and hence it is a natural progression that once a
person is accustomed to reading, he/she will want to make a progress in writing as well.
Writing refers to the discipline where language learner is able to create language for
themselves2. It might involve writing a letter or an anecdote as instructed by the teacher. It is
only when the student puts the pen to the paper, they seem using the language for themselves
along with having a better understanding similar to reading. Writing has always acted as a bigger
advantage since when something is written it can be worked and revised until it is correct thereby

helping learners in eradication of the mistakes. This is however not possible once the learner
starts speaking.
Speaking refers to the used aspect of the language for most of the people. It acts as the
tool for the purpose of communication. Speaking allows individuals in communicating with the
others, in expressing the ideas and also knowing the others well3. It has been found that in
primary schools recitation and elocution acts as the primary sources in mastering the rhythms,
sounds and the intonation of English language through the simple reproduction. Besides, the
manifestations of language in pair work activities and games acts as an encouraging source
helping the learners in speaking the language. This helps learners in beginning to control the
language and get better thereby gaining expertise. Thus, the only means of perfecting the
speaking skills lies in holding conversations and for doing that one should at the same time be a
good listener.

Learning is often invisible to the others since it remains within the heads of the student.
This implies assessment of learning should be done through performance which portrays what
the students can do with the knowledge. Thus, assessing the performance of the students involves
undertaking formal or the informal assessment, higher or lower stakes, collective or individual

The students can be made to start by addressing the portions of their choice and writing
one single manageable section at a particular point in time. They could be encouraged by
becoming the role model of their interest and by adopting teaching activities which are student
active. They could also be encouraged in setting own goals based on realistic goals for
performance.
However, student progress can be monitored by conducting monitoring test based on the
curriculum, through interaction and observation, frequent evaluations and through formative
