INTRODUCTION
Supporting young parents refers to help young couple to have their children with proper gap
between them and guide to care for their kids. It includes the criterion of supporting them by
providing desired knowledge for improving their skills and abilities to take care of their new-
borns effectively (Spaulding, Sandstrom and Sick, 2019). This project is based on the topic of
supporting young parents having goal of critically review and appraise policy and practices that
contribute to the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. In context of
this assignment, it will focus on health policies related to supporting young parents and relevant
discussion. It will also include the principles of health promotion and primary healthcare to help
young parents. The principles related to equity, rights and access to in regards to Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander families is given here.
TASK
Identify and discuss health policies that apply to the chosen topic.
Supporting young parents includes to helps pregnant or parenting teens for managing their
parental life and takes care of them during pregnancy as well as after child birth. It includes
making them aware of taking care of their new-born baby by ensuring that all the vaccinations
have been done. It is necessary to provide information about the specific time by providing
relevant information letter to bring baby to the government hospital for their vaccinations so that
their immunity will be improved and avoid severe health problem in appropriate manner.
Meanwhile, it is observed that effective knowledge is required to be provided for young parents
to make their parenting role easy and ensure proper care of their forthcoming child (Darra and et.
al., 2020). It has been identified that effective programs are required to be organised from efforts
of healthcare department to increase awareness among young people. It is necessary to provide
effective information to young parents by managing query sessions where they can clarify their
own specific doubts in order to enhance their skills of parenting. It will provide support to clear
their doubts and become capable to provide appropriate care for their new-borns by managing
required vaccination in proper way. It will facilitate to enhance the health condition of young
parents as well as their children.
On other hand, it has been analysed that there are number of health policies related to care
services provided for wellbeing of children and young people. It includes several aspects to be

considered in order to improve the health condition of kids and young people that are mentioned
here. Initially, it involves the evidence based programs for young parents in terms of fostering
the care and effective guidelines for expectant & parenting youth in fostering care. Secondly, it
includes the guide to working with young parents in out of home care and policy of opening
doors for young parents to sort out their problems appropriately. Thirdly, it includes the policy of
strengths perspective for providing opportunities for teen parents and their families to succeed as
well as teen parents (Hoffmann and Vidal, 2017). It consist the policy of building a safety net for
teen parents in foster care and specified children’s hospital primary care centre (CHPCC) and
young parents program. However, it includes the policy of fostering healthy Texas lives
including strategies in terms of preventing teen pregnancy in foster care and support teen parents
in foster care. Moreover, these policies should be followed to support young parents to provide
proper care for their forthcoming kids.
Apply principles of health promotion and primary health care to the review of the chosen topic.
Health promotion can be defined as a practice that has an aim to involve as well as empower
people and communities to select healthy behaviours for enhancing their health condition. It
includes the efforts of care professionals to organise desired health promotion campaigns in
order to provide appropriate knowledge to people which impact positively to influence their
behaviour for reducing risk of health issues. Meanwhile, it consist the criterion of providing
appropriate information related to effective parenting strategies to make young people aware of
efficient practice to provide effective care for their kids. It has been identified that health
promotion campaigns should be organised for specific care aspects like providing information to
young pregnant women to take care of their own health and eat healthy fruits which facilitate
proper development of foetus. It is required to provide information about effective strategies to
them for avoiding relevant complications and make them aware of initial symptoms of related
problems of pregnancy. It is required to provide knowledge to young parents that how often they
would visit the hospital for gynaecologist in regards to regular check to make sure about their
stable pregnancy condition (Sandstrom and et. al., 2019). However, it is required for care
professionals to suggest to these women that when and why they should go through normal
delivery or operational delivery of the baby by explaining relevant reasons as well as benefits of
both of these clinical methods.

In addition to this, health promotion plays an important role to provide desired information to
young parents to facilitate their wellbeing during the pregnancy and after the childbirth. It
includes the criterion of managing the appropriate health condition of both mother as well as
new-born. Basically, it is observed that care professionals should be follow the effective health
promotion principles that facilitates to improve the respective outcomes that are given below. It
includes a broad & positive health concept, participation & involvement, action & action
competence, a settings perspective and equity in health. These principles are favourable to
deliver equal and appropriate information to audience and clear their queries effectively that
improve their health condition (Walsh, 2020). Moreover, the primary care includes the initial
check of couple to have family and then medical care for pregnant women including vaccinations
as well as other medications for their wellness. It includes the criterion of providing effective
care facilities to pregnant women and conduct counselling session for them to make them aware
of special actions to be taken for completion of gestation period properly and delivery of the
new-born.

Considering the support for young parents, it has been analysed that care professionals are
required to provide desired knowledge to them and make them able to maintain their appropriate
health condition. It is favourable to ensure that health of mother and new born child will be
managed in proper manner. Meanwhile, it is necessary for medical practitioners to consider
principles of equity including justice and equally distribute the knowledge as well as deliver
relevant services in order to improve the health condition of people belongs to different religious
groups of communities. It consist the use of rights of patients that must be followed by nursing
staff such as right to information, right to records & reports, right to emergency medical care,
right to informed consent, right to confidentiality, human dignity & privacy, right to non-
discrimination, right to safety & quality care as per standards (Strange and et. al., 2019).
However, it also includes right to choose alternative treatment options, right to a second opinion,
right to transparency, right to choose the source for obtaining medicines or tests, right to proper
referral & transfer, right to protection for clients engaged in clinical trials, right to protection,
right to be discharged and right to patient education.

In addition to this, the access to required information and care services should be available for
supporting young parents to solve their health issues. It includes that criterion of avoiding the
factor of discrimination and deliver all the medical facilities in equal manner among people.
However, it has been evaluated that equality factor must be maintained and make easy access for
healthcare services to people belongs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. It will
provide support to improve the health status of young people as well as children in appropriate
way.
CONCLUSION
From the above concluded that supporting young parents can be considered as an important task
as they are not aware of these things which may develop complications for them. It is necessary
for care professionals to provide appropriate knowledge so that they can take care of themselves
during the entire gestation period and after birth of new-born. However, it is necessary to follow
all the health promotion principles in order to make it more effective by considering factor of
equality while clarifying the queries of young parents to enhance their parenting skills.
