According to research it is possible to understand the fact that the use of internet has
increased in last few decades due to its improved quality, performance and the benefits that
are obtained due to the usage of the internet. Internet has been playing a vital role in the
deployment of the various surveillance tools, however there are debates due to the advantages
and the disadvantages that are brought by the surveillance tools. For example, there are few
peoples in the society who believe that surveillance helps in the prevention of crime along
with few who believe that surveillance would be causing ethical issues associated with the
violation of privacy. The major question that arises due to all this is if surveillance would be
responsible for making the lives of people easier or would be responsible for making the lives
more complicated.
Surveillance society is place that is associated with the inclusion of the movement of
the people and their activities which are recorded. Besides this collection of the personal
information is also done. So being a member of the surveillance society means that the lives
of the people are monitored and they are watched online and are controlled by the
government or an organization so as to manage, control and protect the communities. There
exists three type of surveillance and this includes the psychological surveillance, physical
surveillance and lastly data surveillance. The physiological surveillance is associated with
including the usage of the surveillance tool so as to have instant online surveillance of the
behavior of the individuals by means of interrogations. However, the physical surveillance is
associated with the compromising of the watching of the behaviors of particular individuals
by spies or by the security agencies. Lastly, the data surveillance is associated with the usage
of the electronic devices for example the cameras connected to the internet and many more.
In this the activities and the behaviors of the individuals are monitored in a secret way.
It is seen that the surveillance society is associated with enjoying protective
atmosphere and the major reason lying behind this that the surveillance tools ae being

appropriately used so as to keep the peoples safe by prevention of crimes. There exists
various instances where the police is capable of finding the criminals by taking help of the
surveillance system for example the 2013 Boston bombing case.
Besides all this it is also believed by many individuals that the surveillance cameras
are associated with the creation of ethical issues by observing the people and violating the
privacy, rights and liberty of the individuals. According to them existing in a surveillance
society means considering the privacy to be an illusion. Many stores, markets and offices
have been associated with the usage of the surveillance tools so as to monitor and record the
behaviors of the customers.
However, it is to be noted that problem to the surveillance is not the privacy as the
surveillance cameras are generally deployed in the public places. Every recording is not seen
all the times but certainly they are kept so as to use it in case of any need. In stores the
surveillance is used for recording the behaviors of the customers and to provide them with
loyal cards, however buying of the loyalty card is always not necessary. The data that is
collected from the loyalty card are generally used for the purpose of improving the business
for example the market owners use this data for the purpose of specifying the products which
are most requested. Surveillance is used by many law enforcements for the purpose of finding
the most wanted suspects. Surveillance is made more efficient by making use of the various
modern technologies for example the usage of the CCTV cameras which are connected with
the government database of many countries making it possible to recognize the faces and
matching them with the faces of the wanted suspects present in the database.
There are also opinions which states that there are also various other ways by which
the outlaws can be detected, instead of using the surveillance which is associated with the
collection of huge unnecessary data. For example, if the police is searching for a suspect then

they can just go there to look for he suspect without recording the and overserving everyone,
this would be helping in saving of everyone else’s behavior as well as movement. However,
one positive aspect of using surveillance cameras also exists that is it makes the people feel
safer. There are many places where the existence of some officers is associated with
frightening the peoples but the existence of cameras would not much be frightening.
The major aim of surveillance includes the making of lives of people easier by
providing them with the services the are used by the people daily or periodically. Besides this
the surveillance is also aimed at providing benefits to the people more than harming them.
For example, banks use the surveillance for the purpose of protecting the employees as well
as the customers. Believing the fact that surveillance is going to make lives more complicated
is not at all suggested. It is also seen that most of the people are associated with acting out of
the norms even when they realize that their data is being collected by someone or is tracking
them for some reason which is entirely unknown to them. This makes the peoples feel
insecure for example they fear in browsing certain websites and many more.
Societies can be made safer by making use of the surveillance and for this reason
people must not think that the surveillance is going to cause ethical issues. Besides this
surveillance is also one of the best options that is provided to various governments in getting
their operations done like identification of the suspected people and keeping them away from
other. Besides it can also be stated that surveillance would not the making the lives more
complicated. Threats can only be eliminated if the surveillance society is associated with the
decomposing of the individuals which is to be done by the implementation of the balanced
protection between the sharing of the detailed personal information and the personal data.
