Summary of the article:
Green IT is an emerging practice in the field of information technology. The practice of
“Green IT” enables the way to maintain the sustainability of the environment along with meeting
all the requirements of the future development. Maintaining the sustainability means
development along with providing the future scope for the development. The sustainability can
be achieved through technical, economic and social measures. The objective of the mentioned
article is to understand the application and the concept of the green sustainability and its impact
on the information technology industry. The discussion regarding the sustainability has been
done from the social, and psychological perspective. Apart from that the marketing of the green
IT along with managing the sustainability through the green IT has been done from a broader
perspective. The research framework has been discussed that would be useful for the
implementation of the green IT.
Critical analysis of the article:
In order to understand the concept of the green IT, the literature review is done on the
basis of the selected peer reviewed journals. It has been seen that the concept of the green IT was
not much familiar earlier before 2009. However, from the peer reviewed journals the concept of
the green IT practice can be understood. This concept has helped the article to develop a multi
level green IT framework. This framework has helped to fill the gap and the fragmentation
between the concepts discussed in the literature review. The main attribute of this article is that it
helps to create the direction of the future framework for the further development of the green IT.

the gap between different theoretical concepts discussed in the past regarding green IT and the
current trend or the practice of the green IT. Moreover, the article has proposed a framework for
the implementation for the green IT. This paper has also focuses on the environmental impact of
using the green IT. It can be said that the paper has covered the concept of the green IT in a
proper way. However, the review of the literature can be done in a more specific way, so that the
gap in the review can be understood in a proper way. Apart from that the discussion is effective
as it helps to identify the advantages and the challenges of the green technology and significance
of maintaining the sustainability along with the impact of the sustainability and green IT
practice on the environment.
