INTRODUCTION
Career Development means plan your future goals and then assess what are the skills
needed to fulfil those goals. While making future goals it must include short term and long term
plans. It means to analyse various options and choose the one which are of your interest area. It
helps in building our career. This project outlines various factors that must consider to choose
career plan like interest factor, values and strengths. In addition to that consider challenges also
that you will face to choose career plan they are increasing competition, and high grades in
exams.
Factors motivated to choose career plan
Career Plan means to find out what are your interest area, your skills and jobs related to
that career. After that carefully analyse whether your skills are matching with that career and you
have sufficient funds or not to pursue that career. In addition to this you must consider whether
this career goal is aligned to your belief system and values as it also impacts in future. The career
plan chosen for this project are – To pursue MBA in Finance
Interest factor- This factor motivated me to choose this career plan because I analysed
various options and among them I like finance stream, so I have chosen finance profession.
Strengths – plays a very important role in selecting a career path because it will help in
the success of chosen career. Strengths include skills that are necessary to grow in that career
(Marino, Rivero and Dabos, 2019). So I analysed my strengths as I am good in financial analysis,
making statements and it matches with the career plan.
Value - It is one of the most important factor that helps in choosing the career. It is also
known as work values. Career value means what are your beliefs like what you feel what is
important in career. In addition to this what motivates you to get success in career.

Challenged and opportunities and their effect on chosen area of work
I am interested in pursuing MBA in finance in future as I am more interested in making
cash flow statements and financial statements of the company. There are various opportunities in
finance field as every organization needed someone who manage their cash flow activities. In
addition to that other activities like salary distribution and payment of dividends to the
shareholders of the company. So there is a demand of Finance professionals in almost all type of
business and banks and other financial companies. There is a huge opportunity of finance people
they can work in finance departments and in almost all companies.
This managerial degree helps me to gain more knowledge in the finance and helps to get
job in the financial organizations. This degree will not only enhance me in depth knowledge of
finance but also helps in development of my overall personality. For example, it helps me in
talking with different group of people. In addition to that my presentation skills will also enhance
while giving presentations in the class. Besides this I will learn how to explain the data to the
peoples. MBA degree will help to enhance my other skills also that leads to overall professional
development. There are various finance sector options available like Corporate Management,
Insurance companies, Investments services, Private banks and Investments banks.
Further, there are various other job opportunities in finance they are- For Example -
Financial advisor, Credit managers, Financial analyst, Cash manager, Investment banking,
Financial manager and in securities market. These are the managerial positions and MBA degree
as well as skills helps me to get job in these positions also. Finance Professionals get a high
salary package as they are good in dealing with the numbers, and they can work under pressure
and have an excellent communication skill. I will get a high package as I will enhance my skills
while pursuing MBA and get a good job. Further there is a growth in finance jobs so salary will
also increase in future.
Challenges
Increasing competition- There is a high competition in the finance jobs as there are
many students who are pursuing and want to pursue this degree. Besides this, competition will
also increase in future as companies looking for candidates with a certain skill set (Kettunen and
Sampson, 2019). Getting into a good MBA college is also a challenge as many people want to
get enrolled into this career.

High test scores- Top colleges of MBA selects the candidates who scored high marks in
the entrance tests. It a great challenge to score high marks and come into the college list.
Colleges not only checks the grades but also takes interview of the candidates and assess
candidates then only they will select (Inada, 2020). Besides this there are many candidates apply
for admissions so there is a need of high scores to get selected for interview round.
Practical Steps to get into this career
Educational Qualification- To get into this career it is important to know the
requirements to get admission into college. Bachelor degree is required as well as GMAT and
IELTS score that must be 6.0-6.5. These tests include Analytical, Writing, Quantitative aptitude
and Reasoning so I will prepare hard for these exams and will perform best in the exams.
Professional skills- Getting into MBA college not only grades are necessary but also
communication skills are important. I will improve my communication skills and perform better
in group discussion and PI rounds.
Involvement in Extracurricular activities – Colleges will see how much you have
involved in other activities also they will check leadership skills. Besides, this they will check
whether a student is involved in other activities also. So I will take part in activities to strengthen
my profile (Inada, 2020). Apart from this I will improve my writing skills by writing essays as
they will check written skills also by giving any topic whether you are able to write on that topic
or not.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that career plan is very important for the career
development. Before choosing career factors must be considered they are interest, strengths and
values and the challenges that will affect. These challenges are increasing competition and skills
that necessary to get admission in MBA. So consider these factor and challenges to get
admission into MBA college.
