Sustainability in Business: A Visual Culture Analysis of Floral Themes

This essay explores the intersection of visual culture and sustainability, focusing on the role of floral themes in promoting environmentally friendly business practices. Through a primary visual research methodology featuring ten images, the essay examines how floral decor can contribute to a green economy and offset unsustainable practices. It addresses questions regarding the challenges businesses face in maintaining sustainability and proposes innovative solutions, supporting the hypothesis that floral themes can help businesses become more sustainable in the long run. The analysis highlights the aesthetic appeal and low carbon emission rate of flowers, emphasizing their potential to transform business spaces into attractive and sustainable environments. The essay concludes that incorporating floral designs in both interior and exterior spaces promotes environmental awareness and aligns with the principles of a green economy.

INTRODUCTION
The environment in broad terms comprises of different kind of living organisms, trees,
plants, etc. and it is the duty of modern businesses and firms to take care of the damage that is
being incurred to the natural resources. All these factors which exist in our natural surrounding is
directly or indirectly affecting our daily life which is why the issue of sustainability which is the
main theme of this essay is of prime importance. Nowadays, various activities performed by
humans adversely affect this environment and make it more polluted which is why businesses
must strive to undertake greener business practices. (Moura, Frankenberger, and Tortato, 2019).
Not only human beings but several business organisation or manufacturing industry also
responsible for the poor condition of environment which is why the environment must be taken
care of in a proper way using sustainable measures and practices. The main theme which will be
the part of the visual research which is being conducted in this passage involves floral theme and
décor which is due to my personal inclination towards flowers due to their aesthetic appeal and
the way in which they protect the environment and have a very low carbon emission rate. The
main research methodology which will be used in this essay will feature a primary research
methodology featuring 10 images which will be related to theory of sustainability and the chosen
floral theme to solve major sustainability issues.
MAIN BODY
Various types of theories have been introduced in the field of sustainability and one of the
most major ones involves green economy theory (Mudretsov, Prudnikova, 2020) and it
basically involves the thought of making each and every business functions working in the
favour of making environment better for the upcoming generation. The theory of green economy
includes the huge scope of content which is concerning about (concerns) the coordination
between humans and the surrounding in which they live. People who introduced this theory
believes that decisions which are related to the economy must be taken by keeping our natural

atmosphere in mind (Musvoto, Nortje, and Nahman, 2018) (more than 2 authors, so Musvoto et
al., 2018). The subject matter which is explained with the help of this theory is that how this
theory is helpful in improving the sustainability. From many years, government of various
countries in the world have been using the idea of green economy as a plan of action. By shifting
the economy of the country towards being more sustainability oriented, it has become easy to
solve various problems which affect the growth of the country.
With the help of this essay the idea of floral theme has been used, for conveying the
message of safety of environment and inspiring them to do something in this regard. Various
other elements also used in with this floral design idea to make it more representable and
effective. During this essay questions like 'what are the problems which are faced by the various
business firm to maintain sustainability in their operations?' or 'what could be innovative and
ideal steps can be taken by these organisations?' and 'how sustainability is key factor for saving
the environment?' will be examine. Apart from these questions, there is a hypothesis which will
be the base of this essay and continuously followed is “Floral themes help businesses become
more sustainable in the long run”.
Through this visual research an evaluation will be done which will describe the idea of
sustainability which we can use with the execution of floral structure design. In this the method
of research which has been used is primary. In this type of research, the data and the information
which has discussed is completely new and not picked up from any other research. Next element
which is being considered while doing this research is auto- ethnographic method of research
which will help in identification of own experience or views, and writing down all these things in
essay (Ostman et al., 2019).
The first image is portraying the floral theme along with its benefits to make the optimum
use of natural resources which relates strongly to the theme of green economics which also
advocates the use of environment friendly resources. The picture is also encouraging the green
economic theory, which states the focus on the green environment and its sustainability and to
also follows the idea of going green using flowers while also using candles to make the aesthetic
look great.
This next image highlights the uses of flower as a mode of decoration and innovation as,
they can be used to change the background and the surroundings as well and accounts for the
way in which floral theme can be applied to decorate business spaces. This also ties to the floral

theme as flowers represent natural beauty in its purest form which I personally find quite
pleasing.
The next figure shows the natural beauty of flowers which is a major reason as to why
floral theme is being used steadily in businesses as they provide natural source of attraction
while also being sustainable. There have been many researchers conducted which are also
increasing the sustainability factor of flowers which is also a reason for mass adoption of floral
theme (Özkaynak, 2019).
This next image helps understand the way in which floral theme is being used to offset
unsustainable business practices by becoming an important aspect of their interior decoration.
There are many reasons as to why floral theme is gaining popularity which the picture showcases
as it helps make beautiful and sustainable business spaces.
This next part of the visual research is also very important as it showcases one of the best
decisions that modern business can make in regards to usage of sustainable operations. This
figure shows the uses of flowers to decorate the cafes and restaurants which is quite sustainable
along with usage of a floral theme which causes minimal damage to the environment.
Image sixth is defining the necessity of floral décor in any business entity to promote the
thought of green economy in the infrastructure which will make employees responsible to
include flowers and environment related decorative product in the interior of business, along
with this colourful flower also support in gaining the attention of the customers.
Image number seven serves as an excellent visual example of how floral theme can be used
to enhance the interior environment of any building without using any unsustainable action such
as use of sculptures by adding flower to make it more beautiful. Floral themes can not only help
in becoming more sustainable but also help people understand their importance towards the
environment with the use of these show pieces in the work place
The eighth image is used for depicted the idea that how flowers can make the natural
surrounding more pleasant and make it more sustainable. By planting these flowers, humans
work in saving the environment as they intake the carbon dioxide from the surrounding and
release oxygen which is a life gas.
The ninth image is about use of greenery and contribution in planting green plants in
establishing a good place for sitting in the exterior of the business, which will keep customers
connected to the idea of green economy and make them aware about its benefits in daily life.

The last image is showing the designing in respect of uses of vases with bright and alluring
flowers in any restaurant. Taking such steps which is concerned with using flowers as a main
source of decorative item. By this it become easy for the owner to attract the customer towards
the restaurant and make them aware about the sustainability which we can achieve through floral
designs. This also defines the way in which creative use of floral themes can help in making
attractive business designs.
The above displayed 10 images are a part of the visual analysis and with the help of this
research, the use of floral theme in businesses were highlighted and the chosen hypothesis was
also proven correct as use of flowers is very sustainable as the emission is less, the aesthetic is
attractive and the replacement of furniture with floral décor reduces the amount of pollution in
both indoor and outdoor contexts.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, we have understood that it is very important for all of us to make our
environment more sustainable and use sustainable tools and techniques in business which
promote the thought of preserving environment in the society such as use of flowers via a floral
theme. Sustainability is basically concerned with following such actions in our life which are
environment friendly and it is our moral obligation to promote individuals who our living around
us in the direction of being sustainable. Our natural surrounding plays a significant role in the
life of human beings and it is their basic duty to steps in avoiding such malpractices which make
it polluted. In this essay use of floral design is being described for decorating the interior and
exterior of business place. The visual research which was conducted was successful in proving
the hypothesis correct that floral theme helps promote sustainability.
