The evaluation of the case study for the organization named Tiny Opera
Company has presented the following compliance requirements:
 The organization will have to determine an effective code of conduct for the
employees. These codes will determine the behavior, which is expected from the
employees in the organization. These codes of conduct should be applicable to
all the employees irrespective of their job role within the firm. These codes would
be implemented with the goal of developing respect among the employees,
patrons, customers and workplace. These will enable both the internal and
external stakeholders to behave in manner having a positive impact on the
sustainability measures (Garnett et al. 2013).
 Self-work procedures are common policies that are implemented within
organizations for providing the employees with knowledge regarding workers
safety and health while executing a particular task. These will consist of a
manual, which will define pre safety checks, personal protective equipments,
operating procedures and the equipments that have to be applied during
executing the task (Reisch, Eberle and Lorek 2013). The requirements of the
health and safety act will have to be complied to and there are other code of
practices which have to be followed such as The Work Health and Safety
Regulation 2011(NSW), The Work Health and Safety Act 2011(NSW),
WHS/OH&S acts, AS 8000:2003, ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 14004:2004.
 The organization will have to conduct a risk assessment of the production
activities. This will enable them to identify the risk factors that may have a
hazardous outcome. Risk register will provide a broad aspect about the different
risk factors and their priorities. Therefore, the risk elements having maximum
possibility of occurrence and high magnitude of impact can be dealt with.
 The organization will also have to have to follow the Building Code of Australia
rules and regulations for class 9b building, which includes assembly buildings

where general population may gather for events and social gatherings (Wheeler
and Beatley 2014).
Best practice models used by theatres and performance spaces.
Green theatre is an initiative, which has been taken by the theatres since the last
decade. It is essential for developing effective policies for reducing the impact to the
surrounding environment. The primary practice is reduction of waste and use of
resources especially for companies that are fully dependent on the use of resources.
Industrial design are being used which comprises of innovations in technology such as
energy efficient lighting (Chu et al. 2013). The other factors that will have to be
addressed by the model are cost efficiency and decrement of environmental footprint.
These will enable them to address issues such reduction of toxic waste and effective
use of resources.
In order to implement sustainable development, the model of industrial design,
the designers needs to collaborate creating spaces that is alternate with similar kind of
elements (Le Blanc 2015). This kind of model will be helpful in nature, as this will help in
reducing the environmental footprint and maximizing the efficiency of the cost as well.
When the theatre industry has to attempt sustainability, these kinds of models can be
analyzed and this will help in promoting sustainability. Proper education has to be
provided to the different individuals in the society, as this will help in generating
sustainability.
Environmental and sustainability legislation outline
The environmental policies should be applicable to all the employees, audiences
and staff partners that will aim to educate audiences about the standards that have to
be marinated. The relevant legislations and standards are as follows:
 Equal opportunity for women Act 1999, which states that organizations having
more than 100 employees should implement programs to provide women with
equal rights and opportunities in the organizational setting.

petajoules of energy to examine their energy consumption. This will enable them
to reduce their energy consumption and lead towards sustainable practices

 Environment Protection Act 1997 states that emission of harmful gases have to
be reduced for protecting their environment from pollution. The organization will
have to take preventive measures for reducing the discharge of pollutants into
the surrounding environment.
 National greenhouse and Energy reporting Act states that organization will have
to met the threshold of their green house emission, energy consumption and
energy production.
 NPI (national pollutant inventory reporting) states that the organization will have
to provide reports on waste transfers and emissions. The Act had specified 93
substances, their rate of burning and electricity types used so that any trip over
can be identified.
Tiny Opera Company will have to address the following issue while developing their
sustainable policies:
Minimizing the use of resources
Implementing Life cycle approaches of management
Reducing the use of hazardous chemicals and toxic materials
Implementation of sustainable strategy for continuous improvement

Providing a safe and healthy work culture for the different employees in the
organization as this will help in becoming innovative in nature. As the
environmental sustainability helps in reviewing the different processes as this will
help in finding solutions for generating greener and better alternatives in an

operations of the respective organization have to be done in such a manner that
will not affect the external environment adversely and this will create positive
impact on the environment.
Lastly, conducting different kind of rigorous audits, self-assessments and
evaluations as this will help in promoting sound environmental practices that will
help in affecting the environment in a positive manner. Proper enhancement of
the awareness among the different employees, users and volunteers are
essential in nature, as this will help in motivating them to act in a certain manner
that is environmentally responsive (Holden, Linnerud and Banister 2017).

The Policy Development procedure sets out certain required steps which are
important for the development and review of the given policy. The steps are as follows:
1. Governing Policy
This step states that the given policy which will be implemented needs to
be reviewed by the Australian Catholic University (ACU) Policy Development and
Review Policy.
2. Scope
This steps states that the policy is required to be reviewed by all relevant
staff members and they have to see to it that compliance has been made with all
the laws (Haque, Chin and Debnath 2013).
3. Policy and Procedure Development and Review Cycle
The policy and Procedure development along with the review cycle
consists of the six steps:

4. Review of this Procedure
This states that the procedure will be reviewed once every five years.
Promotional strategies for increasing awareness of sustainability policies
Some promotional strategies that may be followed by the company are given
below:
 Printing posters and constantly reminding the employees about the priorities and
goals of the company
 A sustainability corner might be set up on the company portal so as to make sure
the move is initiated.
 Sustainable tours may be organized so as to provide people a clear
understanding of the importance of sustainability.
 A waste audit may be conducted which will go a long way in involving the
employees in sorting, collecting and weighing the trash (Xenias and Whitmarsh
2013).
Policy impact maximization Strategy
Although the earlier steps may be adopted but it is better that that extensive
maximization strategies may be adopted. This can be done with the help of:
 Training- Proper training needs to be imparted to the employees in order to see
to it that they follow the sustainability policy norms so as to ensure that they
follow them and the organization is able to improve.

 Marketing- Proper promotional strategies need to be applied in order to ensure
that every stakeholder of the organization is aware about the different polices

 Stakeholder Management- The stakeholder of the organization need to be
managed properly. This is because they have placed their trust in the
organization since a long period of time and it is the right of the stakeholders to
be aware of the different moves in an organization.
Final Sustainability policy
The policy which has been selected conducting audits, self assessments and
evaluations of various kinds. This shall ensure that the employees promote and adopt
sound environmental practices which will have a positive impact on the business
environment. In this step proper training and awareness of the different employees,
users and the volunteers is necessary to motivate them to adopt the plan.
